342 homeruns and just turned 32.

He probably has 6 more years of 25+ homeruns in him.

500 is a definite possibility.

He's kinda on the Adrian Beltre track....i.e. a guy who is consistently good for a very long time, but who never was viewed as a superstar because he never had a huge season.

Man, I'm hoping for half of Beltre's production toward the end of his career, but this is pretty spot on. He has finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in MVP voting in different seasons. Beltre did only have two top five MVP seasons fwiw and had the misfortune of playing at the same time and in the same league as Bonds when he finished runner up.

He's having a career track very similar to Adrian Beltre. Never quite good enough to be in serious MVP consideration, but year in/year out puts up good to very good numbers without a serious dropoff with age. Definitely think Manny will be the next 500 HR club member and almost certainly a lock for the HOF.

That being said, if he had been a Yankee all this time he'd probably have a couple MVPs already. Lol

Him (and maybe Sheets) have been the only bright spots on offense the last few month.

Was not a fan of the contract re-up but at least he's still hitting (and with some power lately too)!

I don't think it's that as much as the fact that he's never been a hyped prospect or had a dominant season.

He's just someone who reached the majors at a young age, been consistently productive, and stayed relatively healthy....nine consecutive seasons (excluding the 2020 COVID year) with 28-37 HR, 85+ RBI, and only one year with <150 games played.

Funny thing is 1 reason the Orioles decided not to extend Manny earlier in his career is that they were scared about his knees holding up after his knee injuries in 2013 and 2014. Since the start of 2015, he's played in over 95% of possible games.

4x in the top 5 in MVP, with two of those being top 3. Not too shabby.

I think he'll get there (and the HOF) but I don't think he will be next.

He's also likely to reach 2000 hits before the All-Star Game.

And given that he's under contract for another eight seasons, that means he's only going to have to average 110-120 hits per season to reach 3000 hits.

So assuming he stays healthy, he's highly likely to reach both 500 HR AND 3000 Hits, which would put him in pretty rare company.

He's hitting better this year but perhaps at the expense of some tower power. His HR rate is down a little while his average is a career high if the season ended today. I'll give him a better shot at 3000 hits over 500 HR. Hopefully he can pull an Eddie Murray and eek it out in the twilight.

He's mildly forgotten about in the trading card world. I enjoy picking up his cards on the cheap.

He was picked 3rd in the 2010 draft, and was ranked as the #6 prospect by MLB in 2012.

This thread got me looking at his stats. I can see why he doesn't draw a lot of hobby attention. Here is what he has led the league in...

2013 At Bats and Doubles
2015 Games and Plate Appearances
2019 GIDP :-(
2021 Sacrifice Flies
2024 GIDP again :-(

He's a good all-around player and has accumulated some stats. He just hasn't done anything amazing to catch the attention of the hobby. I know... "Captain Obvious" moment here...
