I used to have a 500+ Blu ray horror collection.

Now it’s maybe 50 movies (sold it off during the pandemic and cleaned up).

Now it’s maybe 50 movies, most in 4K.

I still have maybe 300 movies on VHS and a few hundred more on DVD. I've bought some BluRays, usually when it was a movie I already had, but with something special about the packaging.

I've got a few that are autographed, too, like the cast of "Mr. Show" on an Emmy-Consideration video, plus Linda Blair on "Hell Night", David Naughton on "American Werewolf in London", and a few others.

From this year's movies, "Companion" is now on MAX so we watched that one last night. Pretty good movie with some nice twists and turns. It stars Jack Quaid (Wee Hughie on "The Boys") and Sophie Thatcher from "Heretic" and "Yellowjackets".

Saw Warfare at the theater yesterday and really enjoyed it. It was very intense, well acted, and felt very real. 8/10.

Big weekend at the box office expected as "Sinners" looks to have a big 2nd week, "The Accountant 2" with Ben Affleck opens, "Minecraft" continues inching toward 400 million, and "Revenge of the Sith", a 20 year old movie, could rack up 20 million in its one week anniversary run, according to some estimates.

I was pretty stoked for Havoc but the reviews have been middling.

Might watch "Havoc" in a minute here, but it looks gauzy on the screen. Maybe I need to get the ad-free version of NetFlix.

"Havoc" was OK, definitely more flash than substance, but part of that flash was unusually gory killings, and not just with the usual wide assortment of guns, but also meat cleavers and washing machines, 'n such. Think John Wick with a lot more blood. Good acting and some cool shots that call to mind "Blade Runner" and similar classics, but the tropes run hot and heavy.

For action movie fans:
6.5/10

For horror movie fans:
7.5/10

Watched Companion last weekend and thought it was a pretty cool movie.

Saw Sinners over the weekend. Very cool, and a solid vampire movie. I will say that I spent the second half of the movie wishing they'd just invite the Irish vampires inside and turn the movie into a full on musical with an on stage duel. Never thought I'd find myself wishing for something like that to happen in a movie.

Also watched HAVOC this weekend, also agree with the overly gory kills and blood...

It's a Tom Hardy movie, I'm not going into it expecting the world, just enough to numb my brain for 1-2 hours...

It was a good movie to end the weekend with, but glad I didn't pay to see it in theatres...

It's from the director of The Raid movies (Gareth Evans), if you're familiar with his movies, overly gory kills and blood action sequences is his thing. I enjoyed it.

Watched Accountant 2 tonight. It was a good mix of action and comedy with a good story. Affleck's acting was not as bad as it looked in the trailers. I thought it was pretty entertaining. A few things to complain about but nothing to get in a tizzy over. 7/10.

Just watched Thunderbolts*, I thought it was good not great. The story made sense and played well, David Harbor was very funny in it. I think it's a good B tier Marvel movie on par with Iron Man 1, Guardians 2, Antman. Entertaining for sure but not top 5 caliper.

7.5/10.

1/3 of the way through the year...

And only 1 movie has broken the $500 million mark (worldwide)...Minecraft

Captain America Brave New World almost got there, well..the next closest at least at $415 million

After that, it's a freefall...with the recently released Sinners at #5 behind Cap...at $237 million

Thunderbolts* at #8 with $162 million...and Bridget Jones still at #10 with a "measely" $134.5 million

Of course we still have the "summer blockbusters"-

Mission Impossible, Lilo and Stitch LA, Ballerina, How to Train Your Dragon LA, Jurassic World Rebirth, Superman, and Fantastic 4

Would assume all of them take over the top 10 $$ earners

Will be interesting to see the details and if Bad Orange Man sticks to his 100% tariffs on films "made/produced" in other countries holds and how that will effect things

Just saw it, too. I thought the team chemistry was great, and as much as I like ScarJo, Florence Pugh is a better actor, so she's an upgrade for the Black Widow role. Harbor is very funny, and Wyatt Russell is also a good Captain America (or U.S. Agent or whatever they call him). Sebastian Stan was excellent as usual, and I like the new hero they introduced. The actor is the son of Bill Pullman, for those who didn't know.

8.5/10

Looking forward to the new Fantastic Four. Before "Thunderbolts*", they had the trailer for it and Jurassic World, although that one looked pretty underwhelming. We'll see if it does well enough to kick off a third trilogy, or if it's just a one-and-done.

To be fair, you’ve already seen most of them before.

Not a 2025 movie, but I’m watching Venom 3 on Netflix.

Wow, just horrible. Honestly, every person in the film could unalive and I wouldn’t care in the least.

I’m one of the few that liked Venom and Venom 2. Agree with you on Venom 3. Horrible.

I believe it was just for Mothers day weekend...still..weird decision..because what does it have to do with mothers?

Unless they were banking on it being a family option for the day/weekend..

Even worse..

They plan to bundle the Live Action and original Animated version in a 2 pack collection...probably at some absurd price nobody will buy lol
