Default BGS to PSA Crossover Question

I was thinking of doing a PSA crossover submission. If I list a minimum grade of 9 and PSA determines it meets the grade in the holder, do they re-examine the card after cracking it out of the slab and will give it a higher grade if deemed appropriate? Just wondering how the process works based on others experiences.

...and if they determine after cracking out and re-examine the card and determine it's appropriate the grade should be lower? Nobody really knows the exact process unless they worked for PSA. The card will get whatever grade it deserves after they determine it meets the minimum grade needed in order to crack the BGS case.

If the missed (or can't be seen from outside the slab) damage is so egregious that PSA couldn't stand for holdering at the submitter's requested min grade, I'd figure that they'd take the declared value into consideration (if it was too low) and then give the submitter the difference in value between a PSA value of the min grade and the new lower PSA crossover grade, almost in a sense using the PSA damaged the card process.

They can't just say, our bad once they crack it out. You are guaranteed that min grade, or else you get it back untouched.

For the reason mentioned above, crossovers are few and far in between. PSA will erred on the conservative side...meaning, unless they are absolutely 100% sure of meeting the minimum grade desired (meaning they are 100% positive a card met the minimum grade requested while viewing the card inside the existing slab), the card most likely will not be crossed over.

How often a card gets crossed to a final grade one grade above the minimum grade requested, that would be interesting to hear some actual examples....i.e. asked for a minimum grade of PSA 9 and end up with a PSA 10 instead. I've attempted probably around 100 crossovers and have never had a card go one full grade above the one I asked for.

I just had a big card rejected at minimum grade 1.5 below the BGS grade.

I wanted to sell on eBay through PSA after, does anyone know if they will still auction it BGS or if they will send back to me as not PSA?

Thanks.

I know you can send non-PSA slabs (BGS, SGC, and CGC currently) to PSA Vault to sell via PSA, so don't see why you couldn't do the same for your BGS slab.
