Default Grail acquired: the end of a quest

I'll keep this short, I recently acquired what has been my #1 grail card for the past 15+ years. I was outbid when this went up for auction many years ago and had been looking for it ever since. While talking with a fellow UM collector at a show a while back they mentioned that they knew where the card was and were working on buying out the collection it was a part of. They ended up doing just that and knowing it was my grail card gave me the opportunity to work out a deal for it which we did. Without further ado:

2007 Leaf Limited College Phenoms Platinum Spotlight Greg Olsen shield/auto #1/1

Looks good with the rest of the rainbow #/25, #/10, and #/5

Congrats on finding it!! I know how frustrating not being able to find the one card you need to complete a collection!

Noice!

7th floor crew! Assemble!

Seriously such sweet card. The 2000’s had some amazing cards and I don’t just think that nostalgia talking

That's a fantastic card. Actual game worn NCAA stuff is so rare, and a piece like this is a once in a lifetime pickup for a Hurricanes fan. Nicely done.

Thanks everyone, definitely glad to finally have it and finish the set. As for what's next, I'm still looking for the Elite Status black auto for Olsen as well as a few other rare UM cards that don't pop up often.

Cool cards if you PC him, but why the uggo SGC slabs with bad grades? The SGC really take away from almost any card design and flush out the color with the black backs.

You generally don't grade thick cards or 1/1s, so there is no real need or benefit to slab/auth them. (unless it's a super high value or faked HOF guy card you basically need to auth)

They'd be much stronger just in one-touch holders and left ungraded, man. Glad you got what you wanted tho.

Lmao. This was one of the most epic football - or general - things from the 2000s. I am his around age, college those years, and can say I did same in nonsense.
Fun times back when every white guy who owned a Fubu or Ecko shirt went by "G-reg" or "E-Money" or "T-Bone." Hilarious.
UofMiami would've had a lot more trouble with the rap if YTube and internet file-sharing wasn't in its infancy back then. Damage was limited.
Present day, this would've been bigger than 'Hawk Tuah' girl ever was. And it'd have done that by the end of a week.

Greg Olsen sure won't ever make NFL HOF and he didn't make it as an announcer... but he'd make a lot writing a bio or doing real interviews of his UofMiami days and the 7th floor crew.
He and Beason and Meriweather and the guys will ALWAYS have that card to play on a rainy day.

Personally, I love the look of the slabs with those cards. It makes them look sleek and I don't think they would look as good in the clear slabs.

Of course he has to ruin another thread by degrading someone's pc. It's what he does best.."buy what you like..but if I don't like it, I'll mock you for it"
