Nice. Not the marquee sets. Similar to why I went for flux. When the black cracked ice 1-1 cost me like a hundred I knew it was achievable.

Maybe that's why I am now trying for Topps Chrome as well. Cheap, visually striking.

I have both the Crusade 1-1s (nebula, black) if you ever get serious about that. Seriously one of my top five Nesmith designs, collegiate but he has no pro Chronicles Crusade.

I picked up the Nebby 1-1 first, then got into Tiger Stripes. The true black came to me as part of a lot that also included a red disco future-jersey 23/25.

What's the story about how you started putting together Nesmith rainbows? Boston fan I assume.

If you could post the photos, but using Imgur, not the internal photo uploader, it's much larger and embedded in the post itself. Just go to Imgur.com, upload the photo using "New Post+", go to "get share links" when it uploads and cut and paste the "BBCode (Forums)" link in here. Type an "l" before .jpeg to right-size it.

Now I understand why they say buy the design, not the card.

Noir.

Visually striking or what. I think Nembhard was actually one of the heroes of Game 1. Day after this was available for $5. What a world we live in, what a time to be alive!

Nesquik is all about sharing the ball, winning. So the problem is definitely not between the 3smith clctrs. Maybe the team is not a good fit. But honestly he's probably just gonna grit it out at minimum salary and build a team anyway.

Don't want to be results based, but if you can buy a sick looking Nembhard black rookie plate for $5, you should.

Actual card collecting questions. So on eBay today, an interesting Nesmith market occurrence.

An NT Gold FOTL 23/24 jumped from $110 to $755 and then to $755 (19 hours to go). I think this was organic, what happened was one bidder put in a reserve of $750 and another with 'don't give an eff money' put in like a five dollar raise on this triggered price just to say I am serious. Bots would have shilled the shoot out of it by now?

So my tri-part question is

1) obviously a desirable card with two of Nesmith's career jersey numbers (neither of them the right one) worth more than a regular version of the card. But how much more?

(A /99 meh patch NT true RPA went for $313.50 in February. Only current data point but I recall a /24 going for like $450 or $540 last year).

2) Assuming numbers are irrelevant, is a /99 "true" with better patch worth more than a /24 FOTL gold?

Seller seems legit, organic amount of bidders (I am not in the running).

3) to a numbers collector, is actually a color match 23/175 third year (first-Pacers) blue disco "right jersey" Prizm more valuable than a wrong jersey, cool numbers, rookie NT? (Nesmith didn't have NT third year, except an odd Biography that used up rookie-year flawless GU Celtics jersey).

The one on the upper right. Only sicker color match I guess would be jersey number of the true blue /199.

In honor of a presumed efficient series close-out, I purchased a card I have only seen appear once on eBay in 5 years at a reasonable price.

A year-and-change ago the gold Rated Rookie Donruss came up and I missed out on bidding. Threw in a $51 best offer for this beauty today and, no party foul, price has not changed at all. Sometimes I love how non-performance correlated card market is.

Myself, I have changed. The old me would have waited for with bated breath to see if Double A exceeded expectations in the next game before buying. Now I hoard a grail rarity of Mr. 50-40-90 the moment it pops up.

That old 1/10.

Nice addition, absolutely love Lasers. I picked up a Haliburton Red/Blue laser auto /20 last year and was happy with how it looked in hand. Hope you enjoy it! Great rainbows too!

That NT at $755 seems insane to me, but I think view cards differently than most lol

Just can't beat the gold laser RR logo. Glad I didn't wait, strong sales on stuff I had my eyes on for years after game 5.

Will be interesting to see if my hunch happens, all the sub-$100 golds and whatnot get skimmed off the Bay by end of playoffs. I think that's how you gain a new foundation on a player's prices. The low-hanging rarities go and what is left is priced higher and bandwagon collectors have no choice the next go-round (2026 playoffs). I mean, barring black swan events such as another dominant game 7 performance.

I wonder if Pacers gained a following in France after their visit? Or was it just Wemby mania.

Just picked up this "Penini" Haliburton for $5. Apparently a NY graffiti artist who enjoys drawing colorful appendages on cards. Not sure what to make of it. No Qwasian, but probably 10x the upside potential.

"YEAH, YEAH.... YEAH! That's how we feel!" If I ever resume phone service, want this as my ringtone.

But seriously, the one nice thing about having built up a thread over the years is expressing elation on a superb playoff clinching victory.

On the analysis tip, this iPacers article is an excellent summation of his impact and improvement.

“He sacrificed himself, man,” said Turner (of G4 put down of Portis dunk attempt in space), who would later joke that Nesmith is made of vibranium. “Landing on your back like that is not fun, but it sparked a big play for us. That’s just not new for him. It’s very on par for what Aaron Nesmith brings to our team. Just a hard-nosed guy. I think he does an amazing job of just selling out. He’ll go out there and just put his body, his life on the line for the team.”

Even more worth checking out is the discussion on Caitlin Cooper's Basketball She Wrote, where co-host Samson Woke speaks of Aaron reinvigorating his love of basketball. Cooper has always been a Nembhard booster who often spoke disparagingly of Nesmith's in-the-paint skills (justifiably), saying in his defense "he's willing to run through a brick wall for you."

Oh and on the card tip, found this 1/1 show up for a hundred bucks:

Collegiate but... my first laundry tag. Also, it is one of those rare cards that you can hardly find at all. It's available in /5, /3, and /1. In that respect it's similar to that Flawless rookie patch that exists as a 1/1 and as a printing plate. Only chance to add to the collection in any form and a unique image.

I don't think Stifle ever did this. I may be a few tweaks beyond him.

In celebration and support of Pacers-Cavs game one, I am painting my black plate "first Pacers Prizm" Nesmith gold and blue.

Not to worry, still have my "color of money" cyan plate of the issue.

Dude this is very cool. I don't know that I have the balls to do that to a 1/1 I commend your bravery! Please share when you're done, can't wait to see how it looks.

No one warned me these printing plates are like impenetrable. Water color don't cut it.

1-1 yes, but a $14 1-1. Wish I had bigger balls, like "penini." Painting appendages on exquisites and stuff.

Why Nesmith is still not a hobby favorite.

He is genuinely honest and doesn't actually crash. Like LeBron, his aim is always to allow you a graceful gentleman's exit and when, like Donovan, you can't accept that you got beat off the post, you may get messed up. The coach has no right to complain. He has no discipline with his players to tell them to avoid physical contact with a moving force.

Double A and Nembhard and to a certain extent the rest of the team have been training with freakin' James Johnson the last two years. Look at Tyrese on kung fu defense.

For this reason and this alone, not still thriving 50/40/90 (I think he's 87.5 percent on free throws) aspirations, Nesmith is respected. If we play the Knicks again, you can be sure Brunson will not try to repeatedly drive into his shins.

I think whether the Pacers move through to Finals depends on whether they get through the Cavs in 4 or 5. Despite the 2-0 lead NY has, Celtics-Knicks is going at least 6. Boston's 20 point lead with 10:53 left was no aberration.

Considering sheer conservation of energy, with only one loss to date, Pacers should be in peak physical condition by ECF. This could change, but they might even give Nesmith or Siakam the day off on Friday. I think Math really wants to run an offense one game. If it's a nice game, Walker gets five more minutes of run, and Furphy five minutes at the end.

Of course yes, the Cavs will come out with a different look. But I think Mobley and Garland are pretty firmly on the bench. And Mitchell really can't outperform like that again. He's too old.

I've been reorganizing some sets to reflect recent pickups. This '22-23 Prizm actually turned the corner to something decent.

blue disco color match

And the 23/25 mojo and the black printing plate 1/1 actually go in the "sell pile." I am gonna hold firm at $400 for the jn mojo and $200 for the black pp. I think that establishes a nice floor and gives room to grow. I know, that's pricing in like a ring and a series MVP.

Ah you mean the prices? But I know people don't actually pay for modern cards. Just having a laugh.

So confused right now about Nesmith and his market. You get this NBA.com feature with Dubel A as the lead, and then he's listed at 8th and they are basically like "inclusion was a coin flip between him and Nembhard."

I will say that Aaron really had a turd of a game, at least in the long-range shooting dept. I've never seen that twice in a row, but I will admit it, I'm a little nervous.

Whatever, he's a good look for basketball. Passionate about winning, but not super jaded or annoying. Doesn't talk that much with the press, but everything he says is proven on the floor.

As for the article, #1 "steady presence" Jarett Allen is on my investment radar.

Christian Braun and Alex Caruso, haven't been watching the series, no idea.

Josh Hart, a little surprising. Buddy Hield, love the dude.

Al Horford. Nesmith's role model, the guy who keeps the same routine day-in and day-out.

Jaden McDaniels. Cool.

Kneesmiff. comfortably out of the spotlight.

For me, there is one player I have seen in the Pacers' series so far who really impresses me and it is none of the above.

That's not at all true. They didn't adapt fast enough to a 3-2 defense that Cavs dusted off from their pre-Mitchell playbook. What are they gonna throw at them next? a 4-7?
