Default Who Were your Favorite Players in the Early 2000's and 2010's

Like 2000-2015 Range.

I used to love Calvin, Steve Slaton, Jamal Charles. 2006-2014 is probably when I did most of my collection growing up.

Just curious to see if a bunch of people here collect/collected some 1 hit wonders, or odd ball players

Jordy Nelson was my main collection at the time, although I got heavily into Johnathan Franklin as well at one point - Packers RB that was drafted in 2013 that had he not sustained a career ending neck injury could have really changed the team's prospects from 2013 on. With Eddie Lacy there and doing decent his first couple of years, the change up in backs would have been very similar to Edgar Bennett and Dorsey Levens from the 1997 Super Bowl year. Lacy was the pounding back, Franklin would have been the finesse back that would change the look of the offense. Was unfortunately at the game when he got hurt, too, which sucked. Still have a decent amount of his cards, although have sold some of the more rare stuff off that could command some value (like the Prizm gold).

Love Jordy, even as a Bears Fan.

Franklin seemed to haunt me on cheap products lol.

I have a decent Darren Sproles PC, he was a local guy who would make the front page of the sports section each week in high school. I really wanted him to make it long enough to get to 20,000 all-purpose yards, he came close!

I'll always have a soft spot for Braylon Edwards and Plaxico Burress because I took them as mid-late rounders for fantasy in 2007 and they both had career years that resulted in me having probably the most dominant fantasy team I will ever have.

Not that long ago I picked up an Edwards superfractor specifically to commemorate his role in 2007 title.

I had zero ties to the Bucs, until they drafted a local Chicagoland beast named Mike Alstott. I had a massive Alstott PC back in the early 2000's

I mean, who does this on a football card?

Jeff Garcia and Warrick Dunn come to mind. Easy guys to root for. Kurt Warner, Derrick Brooks and Mike Alstott were probably my three favorites if I had to pick them during that time

Before 2006 it was Jim Kleinsasser, Ricky Williams, Chris Walsh, Tim Dwight, Chris Hovan, Todd Bouman, and Daunte Culpepper, along with Nomar Garciaparra. I was a verrrrry casual collector, meaning I would be happy to be walking through the mall, see a card show going on, and grab a handful of stuff for a couple of dollars. I actually kind of miss those days where I was so easily placated with a bunch of nicely designed base and cool looking inserts or subsets.

Agreed on the old simplicity. Like I loved PCing a guy and picking up 10 cent cards to grow it. Its not the same anymore.

He changed his last name to Williams (as an adult) at the end of his playing days if I remember correctly.
It was for a great reason too!
Had to do with taking the name of the adoptive father that raised him.

I also enjoyed rooting for Joe Jurevicius, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, and Rey Maualuga mostly because I loved saying (or yelling out) their names during games.

Edgerrin James- One of the most patient RBs I've ever watched, he would follow behind big old Tarik Glenn for 15 yards before breaking out.

I so agree there. He was incredible, patient, always falling forward to get that extra yard. He could block, pass-catch. He was a consummate pro.
