Trout having zero WAR so far this season is pretty crazy.

You can get his auto for $200 now, in a couple years they will probably be $100. Hes becoming Chris Davis.

I’m an Orioles fan so the mention of Chris Davis is a sore spot… lol. I would say Trout’s fall is even sadder since he is falling from a greater height…. And he still has years to go on his contract! It’s going to get worse as he ages.

has nothing to do with on the field performance and everything to do with Fanatics having him sign in every release.

all of the breathing players under contract will have thousands and thousands of Fanatics auto'd cards going forward.

It's a combination of poor performance= less demand and more autos= supply is greater than demand. He's a nice guy and will be signing topps cards for the next 50 years.

I've been referring to his autos in general. 1st Bowman chrome autos are not the same as you know and have a much higher floor.

People were writing Judge's obituary early last year and look what happened. Not saying the same thing will happen here but it's early. At lease MT has good power numbers so far.

Good point! Judge is raking it this year and maybe some of that magic passes to Trout eventually. It’s a long season.

I believe batting .300 lifetime is extremely meaningful. If I had to choose having the 4th most home runs and a .300 BA or hitting 700+ Home Runs and still being 4th with under a .300 BA, I want the .300. Some members may want the 700.

What annoys many baseball fans is that other fans critique players and it may carry some validity. When Trout is critiqued about his ability for availability the Trout fans become incensed. I’ve never seen such a soft fan base where it’s completely hands off when it comes to Trout. We all know he was a great player but some fans still hang on to that thread of revising to what he was and are unable to cope with reality of heroes growing old. He will still have his days but they are going to be numbered.

Even if Ohtani and Judge were to surpass him, a top 5 in this Y2K era is a magnificent achievement. I always place Bonds into the previous time period.

They feel threatened. Any talk about Trout's play on the field they view as a direct threat to his card value, so they go on the attack and try to spin it.

Not true. I own one card of small significance that I paid $60 for a long time ago.

Why waste your life crapping on others? I don’t go into other player threads and talk garbage about them. I don’t think Rafael Devers is anything special. I didn’t seek out his player thread and talk about his 15Ks or whatever it was. It’s unnecessary.

You, stiffie and some other clowns want to minimize Trout’s accomplishments. I will never understand why.

This is why I personally believe Hank Aaron doesn’t get the overall appreciation for how good of a hitter he was.
755 HR
3.771 Hits
2.297 RBI
2.174 Runs
.305 BA
Never struck out more than 97 times in a season.
He was a very good contact hitter as well as tremendous power hitter.

Trout’s first 10 seasons were amazing because he was doing it all. Injuries derailed what was a otherworldly start to his career, and Pujols just seemed to hit a wall so to speak after he left STL.
Pujols age 21-31 never hit below .299
Pujols age 32-42 never hit above .272

Todays fans don’t care about contact hitters.
They’d rather see a guys hit 40+ HR and K 175 times and be labeled a stud. .300 hitters don’t draw crowds. The value of .300 hitter has greatly diminished in many circles.

Thankful for Trout and Julio coming up big to overshadow how terrible Soto has been.

Age and injuries have taken their toll on Trout. Sad to see, but it is what it is. Will be interesting to see what his market is in 5-10 years.

What the heck is going on with Trout?

Coming into this season, the Angels GM Perry Minasian was quoted to the Athletic as saying “Mike is in the best shape I’ve seen him in over the four years I’ve been here”

I’m not a Trout hater, but the above quote really isn’t saying much when the truth is that Trout averaged only 67 games/season during those 4 years.

the answer has always been Pujols. I think it is just that people have been so invested in Trout that either he was pumped so high or people just didnt want to see it.

I feel like Trout is turning into pete incaviglia.

The amount of hate is usually correlated to how great the player is/was. Nobody hops on the Xander Bogaerts hate train when he has a bad month because nobody wants to waste their time. People love to see greatness decline for some reason. The #@#@#@#@ talking is more of a badge of honor than anything.
