Looks like he was protecting the breaker at the start and immediately got called out for his attitude towards those trying to help.

My guess is that he's one of those degenerates he keeps calling everyone that buys into breaks that had a rough streak and finally snapped.

Yeah, I found it odd too. I was reading the thread and kept thinking, “Did no one quote him?!”

Rule #1 on BO is to quote everything that looks like it could be fun.

I skipped the 3rd page

don't think I missed anything aside from the usual suspects just posting the same nonsense they've been posting since circa 2020

I remember when this thread was about 2025 Topps Tribute cards. That was cool!

Much less cool/consistent hits than Triple Threads, which was similarly price.

Just my 2 cents [ducks!]

Was it really about 2025 Topps Tribute?

It was another pointless thread about how the ROI sucks on a box of cards. Tribute was just the name written in the blank.

Here's the link if you're looking to actually talk about 2025 Tribute

I don’t really see the big deal. No one is losing too much money on this.

-The breakers are actually making money on it with how many slots they can sell on each box.

-The people buying into break, on average, are spending $20-$30 to get $0-15 worth of cards. With a lottery-sized chance to hit a big card.

I don’t think anyone is losing their retirement funds, or even their lunch money, on boxes of 2025 Topps Tribute.

I will die on the hill that Triple Threads was the OG of Topps "way overpriced for what you get" products. First year or two it was solid...then the vet/HOF autos became scarce, replaced with no name rookies and the price tag jumped up. This was LONG before group breaking helped shoot up wax prices...

The first year of Topps Tribute was great. It has gone downhill every year since this. I can't believe the price tag on this year's release.

Strongly disagree as Tribute used to have crappy looking sticker autos.

I think it was 2011 Tribute? Where every relic was like a Mantle/Ruth/Aaron pinstripe GU jersey or something. That was a legit release.

Like any form of gambling, there are definitely people losing it all on it.

For sure. And some, very few, are getting big hits. I’m just talking about the general numbers. Especially for Topps Tribute.

Maybe not....but there are plenty of gambling addicts getting into serious financial trouble by consistently buying into breakers.

Multiply that $10 loss by ten breaks a day for weeks at a time, and you're talking serious money. Losing $100 a day gambling equates to more than 35K a year.

Do you feel that’s the majority though? I feel like that’s a very small minority. But I could be wrong. I don’t participate in breaks often and haven’t done so in over 18 months… I’m just going off of what I see online. I just don’t think there’s many people going into debt for Topps Tribute. Doesn’t matter much to me either way though.

This is part of the problem with a lot of people here. When talking about people that buy into breaks, everything is the absolute worst. Everyone is a degenerate. Everyone is buying into multiple breaks every single day. Everyone is spending above their means.

Are there people like that, absolutely. Is it the number that most people here want to portray, probably not.

It only equates to losing $35k+ if zero cards are ever hit. And that a serious run of bad luck if you get skunked 3,500+ times in a row.

Exactly.. singles for me until the gamblers decide they don't want to give away money anymore. Of course Fanatics wants to take advantage of it while they can.

You could be right.

But given the extent to which Fanatics is focusing on breaking, you have to think that on many products, especially the higher end ones, probably 70-80% of all product is being sold to breakers. And it takes A LOT of gamblers to support all those breakers.

Or to put it another way, how many non-breakers do you know who have bought boxes of 2025 Tribute?
