Started looking around and there doesn't seem to be much out there anymore. I've got alot I've held for years but it's certainly dried up.

I saw this thread and thought, good I can finally sell off a bunch of old wax I've had to make some room. Then I read, "cases"...dang.

Cant be easy to ship that stuff, that case probably weighs close to 50 pounds. If you are wax investing, probably more efficient ways to spend $700.

Can't wait to see the other guys mark their 1991 Fleer cases as (Reed buy).

It was only a matter of time before hell froze over... er, I mean, people saying junk wax is "dried up".

Not unexpected. What else are middlemen wax distributors supposed to do now that they are getting cut off from the Topps/Fanatics new product spigot?

Pumping junk wax is a smart move- I think it will actually work. Plenty of people who were kids in the junk wax era are now hitting their high-end earning years...

I suppose, but you ever try busting junk wax era stuff? after 4 packs you get really bored. Especially now with PSA brutalizing 90s stuff, you cant even look for gradable cards.

There has got to be a PSA goldmine in this stuff, right?

Either that, or the degenerates are now getting into “vintage case breaks” at less than $30 a spot for the thrill of it.

Gonna be fun to watch breakers breaking a case of 88 Donruss looking for a .50 cent Alomar rookie and then acting like they struck gold when then hit one… Slow rolling it and then getting excited…

The Fleer and Donruss are about 50 pounds and the Topps are 70 pounds. Miserable to lift and move around. That said, most have double or more the past few years so if you have the space it has worked well.

The goldmine is for PSA getting paid to grade PSA-8s.

Not 88 Donruss but I think many could have fun with 1989 Fleer and Donruss breaks that are affordable.

Junk wax should definitely be sold by the pound. Just dump some on a scale and wrap it in brown paper like ground meat... packs, singles, whatever.

"Yes, I'm number 69. I'll take a pound of the 1989 Topps and... oh look... 1990 Fleer is on sale for $1.99 a pound- 2 pounds of that please!"

Theres still a ton out there but not as much as there once was.

Lets put it this way. The last truly large and incredible card show in Los Angeles prior to this relatively recent surge in popularity, was in 2000 (maybe 2001) at the LA Convention Center. There was a guy there that was selling 1987 Topps Cello Boxes for $3 and he had cases of the stuff. Enough so that I'm surprised he schlepped all that to the show. I am guessing 88-92 wasnt even worth bothering with as it wouldn't sell at $15 a case.

Few people have cases upon cases anymore and the demand is most definitely there. There are card shops that now actively carry and sell junk wax and even things like ice cream shops carrying extensive amounts of junk wax. $2-4 a pack is very cheap in comparison to modern wax.

And its not boring to people who never collected or havent collected in decades. I have sets of everything Topps, Donruss, and Fleer post 1975 as well as graded versions of most big rookies 1977 to 1987, so opening junk wax is redundant for me and then some. But most new collectors are not in that situation.

Junkwax is wildly fun to open as a drinking game. Plus you can have longshots at auto's in the early 90's stuff.

Yes, usually $100 most of the time for 20 box cases.
