Yup. There was a big release today and the melt down on social media over not being able to buy it was.. something.

I thought one of the fine points there was simply participating in the nationwide “Hobby Rip Night” promos. And truly participating, with an actual event. Not just giving out the promo cards for a few days then selling the rest.

Has anyone figured out the print run on the HHN minis yet (combining hobby and retail)?

not a lot of these showing up graded on ebay.

"grading sucks" blah blah blah

keep in mind that when people talk about how all those oldheads love the 1975 Topps Mini Set...... that they are the main participants in the 1975 Topps Mini PSA Registry.

I don’t see the appeal of grading these if you’re making a set. Even if someone is going for a set registry, this is a very difficult set to go for. Not to mention I don’t think getting these graded really increases the price enough to make a profit.

Makes more sense to have graded vintage as part of a set, less so for modern.

This thread is reminding me that I really need to go back see what all I have. I went hard on singles when this released and I know I’ve got a few Trouts at least. I’m also missing about 40 of the SPs still, which is why I’ve got extras of things like Trout.

I'm still not sure if I am going to bother trying to complete the High Number set but I have been slowly gathering a few minis here and there just in case I decide to. My girls opened 6 Blasters and hit 4 minis.

Not many sales (not many graded), but looks like Ohtani, EDLC, Trout have solid sales, and the random Kwan.

I have a scattering of extra SPs but won’t be near my cards for another couple weeks. Will check for an India then.

I actually have the Dusty Baker rainbow except the /5. Waiting for it to pop up somewhere still. I also have 3-4 unopened boxes somewhere, I think.

This is kind of where I am too. Right now I’m grabbing the players who will probably have a long-term demand, since those cards might become scarce down the line. But I’m not going to pay $10-15 for every common to build out the 225-card set, when there probably isn’t that many people building it. Print runs on HHN minis were significantly more than the low-number SPs, so I’m hoping prices come down, especially after ‘25 Heritage is released in a couple weeks.

Yes, I agree, but the problem is that there is not enough of this being opened so availability is going to be a problem once initial listings dry up from people who opened early or were in breaks. After that there will be just lowering of prices on existing minis and then quantities will dwindle. Gonna be tough either way. There are a lot of common minis sitting at $13-$17. I’m not touching them at that price either.

It's an interesting exercise trying to time this market. I will say I've seen some commons listed at $10 and below. Not many, but it's happening.

I can't imagine these having legs. Someone said there was around 500 of each mini by odds. So they aren't exactly in short supply. I sold all my commons at $9.99 BIN plus ESE shipping. One low level rookie at $14.99 plus ESE. Justin Verlander at $20 plus GA shipping. That one I wasn't thrilled with but some idiot sold one at $12.99 BIN and even though I listed at $29.99 all I was getting was $12 and 13 BO so when a buyer offered $20 after a few days, I took it.

The only things that will keep prices propped up will be if tons stays unopened, or if people don't list them thinking they have no value. Otherwise prices should crater once the active collectors finish their sets.

As far as grading, PSA way outsells SGC on these, but PSA slabs with the wrinkled "cushion" looks horrible. I got lucky in my four mini boxes and got four base Elly's and a couple should be graded, but I'm holding off to see if PSA makes some changes on slabbing minis in the future.
