He actually ditched it after the first 20 or so minutes and just used his regular voice afterwards. I’m assuming reshoots would’ve been too expensive and they didn’t have the technology in 1990 to alter it digitally.

I thought Trap was pretty good too but felt like it really dragged the ending, maybe could have been a bit better if last 20 minutes were condensed |

Not really sure when "Ballerina" takes place time wise, but I guess I just assumed with Keanu in that, JW5 was a no brainer...

I feel like it was good when they were at the concert, and then it just dragged after they left. Maybe should have had the whole movie be at the concert somehow

I was against a Naked Gun remake but now that I see it’s a sequel featuring Frank Jr, I’m ok with it. Major Leslie Nielson fan so the trailer paying respect made me happy.

I couldn’t have cared less if it was a remake or a sequel BUT after seeing the trailer, happy it’s a sequel if only for the OJ gag. That trailer had me laughing harder than anything has in the past 5-10 years. |

It makes a big difference for me personally. Acknowledging the original as opposed to ignoring it is a make or break.

It was just reported they've put the brakes on their live-action remake of "Tangled", too, almost certainly because of the lackluster "Snow White" returns.
But at this point, they've already adapted most of their successful animated features as was the plan. I don't think we'll be seeing anytime soon the live-action remakes of "Pocahontas", "Hercules", "Emperor's New Groove", and "Hunchback of Notre Dame" which are the only ones they didn't get to from their 90's resurgence era that began with "Little Mermaid". On the other hand, they have animated sequels coming for "Zootopia", "Cars", "Toy Story", "Frozen" (two of those), "Incredibles", and "Coco", so they'll prolly be awright.

I guess Minecraft is killing it at the theaters. Honestly, I'm a bit surprised. I was expecting more of a dud like Borderlands.

David Fincher is doing a Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel for Netflix that focuses on Brad Pitt's character. It was announced on April 1 so a lot of people assumed it was an April Fool prank but apparently it's really happening

Script by Tarantino on that one.

Now will you let him reprise his role as John Smith in the live-action remake?

He's famously said he'll retire after directing his next movie, so I guess he didn't want it to be that one.

Tron:Ares surprisingly doesn't look like ass. Hopefully Disney doesn't woke it up like 95% of everything they touch

I don't know if any of you listen to The Big Picture podcast but they went to CiemaCon and gave reactions on the latest episode. They painted an overall pessimistic picture of the 2025 slate and the future of cinema in general. One of their points was that the motto for movies has been "survive till 25". Things are supposed to be back on track this year after Covid and the strikes but the slate from all studios is underwhelming. I believe they said no studio has more then 6 movies on the slate for theaters this year and some studios have had as many as 20 per year in recent history. There were a couple of movies they were all excited about. They weren't excited for most of the stuff they saw and they are less excited about stuff like Superman and Fanatic Four after getting to see more footage then what was in the trailer. They all are excited about Together which is a body horror movie with Dave Franco and Alison Brie. They are also high on The Ballerina, Lilo and Stitch, and a few others.
The main takeaway is that studios are planning less features for theaters and all staring to go towards the 17 day window which is killing the theater business. |

We're good.
They're just going to take all upcoming movies and "Minecraft-ize" them before release. It'll add a little to the budgets, but it'll be worth it. Jack Black's gonna be pretty busy this next year or so.

The 8-bit fetish bounce is real.
"Minecraft" racked up 163 million in the USA and another 150 overseas, for 313 total, per Variety. The director and star of "Nacho Libre" have reteamed at just the right time and caught some serious zeitgeist in a bottle. Who'd have thought a movie based on the best-selling video game of all time, with over 300 million copies sold and nearly 170 million monthly active players would do so well? This singlehandedly brings the year-to-year deficit down to only -5% from this point in 2024. One or two more bigger-than-expected hits could very well save the movies as we know them, for at least another year. Yay, Hollywood, you magnificent beast!
