It has been taking about a month from what I've seen just to get from 'arrived' to R&ID.

'arrived on 2/6" and still stuck in RID sounds pretty normal for now. My guess is this week or next week it moves to the next stage

Yep this is normal, and it's likely even worse than that given my oldest submission:

Type: December 16-31 Pokemon Holiday Special
# of cards: 250
Shipped to PSA: 1/7/2025
Delivered: 1/10/2025 (this is the same as 'Order Arrived' status on the PSA tracker)
Order Prep: 2/7/2025
Research & ID: 2/7/2025 (stuck here for ~6-7 weeks now)
Grading:
Assembly:
Green Check Assembly:
Grades Ready:
QA:
Shipped:
Delivered:

Order Arrived on PSA tracker > Order Prep on PSA tracker = ~4-5 weeks

Order Prep on PSA tracker > R&ID on PSA tracker = ~1-7 days

R&ID on PSA tracker > Grading on PSA tracker = ??? (this one order of mine is going on its 7th week in R&ID after already taking 4 weeks to go from Order Arrived > R&ID...so it's been at PSA for 11 weeks already and still at R&ID)...

We don't have the rough count yet from what i've seen but that was confirmed to have gone up between March 2024-March 2025.

250 cards is a big order but 5 weeks in R&ID seems a lot.. Maybe they ran into an issue.

Have you called them?

I have a bulk order of 91 cards from that same time frame that is also at 5 weeks in R&ID, don't underestimate how backed up they are right now.

Any current ways to see the grades early? I have 3 orders in Assembly checkmark and I am getting antsy over here.

I think they are just insanely backed up. I have a 20 card TCG bulk submission which was delivered on 1/6, was officially entered in on 1/30, and has been in R&D since then. I reached out to PSA customer service and they said there was no hold on my order

My order arrived Dec 18th, estimated completion date of March 21st is still in R&ID no movement for weeks

A 14 card order has been in assembly for almost 2 weeks now.

A value max order has been in assembly for about 5 days now.

Seems to be a huge delay in both R&ID and Assembly.

I can just imagine how much of a log jam there is at intake (R&ID) and then at Assembly. Every card coming in needs to be scanned (quicker as it's low res) as well as labeled with a sticker showing order #...and then every graded card going out needs to be scanned and then packed for shipping.

Fanatics, Pokemon, all the TCGs are all raking in the money...and they're all trying to keep as much of it as possible from small fish wanting a piece.

Maybe they should add an option to skip the scanning?

I dont' give a flying flip about scans, Id rather have my cards back in a timely manner. I can scan the slabs myself

Too bad they don't offer that option...to opt out of the graded card scan...for those customers who will never sell their graded card and are fine with doing their own scanning at home. For those flipping the graded card, PSA would want the scan should a future owner want to put the card into their vault. That's something PSA really wants though...for everyone to vault their cards with them to make the whole grade/sell transaction supposedly seamless.

I edited my post as this Friday will actually be ~7 weeks at R&ID, not 5 weeks (lol), but yeah...

250+ cards is definitely on the larger-order end but once an order flows through each step in the process I would imagine that the card quantity starts to matter less (for example, once 250+ cards hit the grading table they're probably going to churn through all of those cards the same day whether it's 100 cards or 250 cards, it just might take the graders an extra 2-3 hours or something. This is just my train of thought though).

My estimated completion date I believe is late April, so i'll give myself another couple of weeks of waiting for movement before I give them a call...I know there's people with a decent amount of cards that submitted in the same time frame and are in the same situation and already called and were told there were no hold ups, so it's likely just their insane backlog.

Don't see them ever allowing the option to skip scans, as both the pre and post scans protect them from an insurance sense if a customer has a complaint about the way a card was received/treated/graded.

It doesn't mean PSA holds itself more accountable with these but it's actually very helpful to have pre and post scans in the event something is very different between what you submitted and what you received (protects against them card switching, causing damage, etc).

Also the post scans of the slab are used for the Registry as their "SecureScan" feature to match a card someone might buy on the secondary market to exactly what was scanned when it exited PSA (if you buy stuff on eBay and a slab has a scratch/crack/debris you can check to see if it occurred in the owner's hands or was like that from PSA, etc).

So, do Submissions move out of the Recent list at a certain point in the process (ie, they've looked at the box at least?) or do they just drop off after a certain amount of time? The sub that arrived on 3/7 in my account just dropped out of Recent in the Submissions screen, but is still listed as Order Received on the website (Order Prep in the app), but the one that is marked as arrived on the 19th is still showing in the Recent Submissions section. If it drops off after a couple weeks (even if they haven't done anything with it), then that would make sense and nothing is happening yet.

Gross - I’m salty too after seeing grades pop on a 20 card sub yesterday. I’ve always been 70%+ gem rate. Been doing this a long time and spend a lot of time reviewing and prepping. 5/20 10, the rest split 8/9… and as always the most valuable cards get the lower grades, the least valuable get the 10s. Pretty much done with Psa, unfortunately two more subs in the queue.

Yep. Sounds like all my modern orders. It just doesn’t make sense to grade modern stuff when many times you can buy modern PSA 10’s for less. 15-20% gem rates on heavily-scrutinized cards being subbed. There’s no way 50% of cards that used to be 10’s aren’t anymore.

I used to send 100-card bulk orders to PSA all the time. $1,200 and 75-85% gems. Now it’s $2,000 (and unjustified frequent up-charges) and 10-20% gems. Grading doesn’t work for modern cards. Well…unless you’re 4SC….somehow that partnership still yields MASSIVE PSA 10 numbers. Somehow.

If i recall, and if correct, the yield is only that high because their is an agreement to not slab cards less than either 8 or 9 cant remember what was reported. So its only putting out that many as the others arent graded. Theyve been doing business with PSA since almost the beginning, so good for PSA to still be honoring an old business relationship as such.

Good podcast episode recently with 4SC on Stacking Slabs podcast.

Doing an experiment with some of the cards in my latest order. 3 of the exact same card I submitted (Bowman Best Paige Bueckers base card) gem'ed, so I'm sending 1 straight to auction (7-day start @ 99 cents), one to Vault (and will set a BIN), and then 1 back to me to sell on my own. Interested to see which one will sell for the highest.

Her market is hot right now, so good time to sell!
