There were FIVE card shows in Cincinnati yesterday. The Legion Hall show had poor dealer attendance but okay collector traffic, and is moving to Sundays going forward. The JJ All Star show at the Boys & Girls Club was packed the entire day. I don't have reports about the other shows.

Sold 90% of my collection yesterday. Felt good to dump these before the crash. Thanks to those who cared enough to warn us.

It's not too late, you still have time to get out. You don't have to run for the exits but you do need to pick up the pace.

I'll be here when you get out because of fear, but come running back on the next market swing. Hard collectors have diamond hands. We aren't going anywhere.

The show had some of the widest aisles I've seen, so maneuvering was comfortable. Good mix of vintage and modern. Prices were about what I expect from a show. One thing I noticed is that there was way more non-sport there than any show I've been to. That said, it was a "card show" not billed as just a sports card show, and it is very easy to just walk past tables I don't want to see. So no big deal there. It's just I don't see that much non-sport at shows in the midwest, so it stood out.

Here are some pictures:

I didn't pick up much, but did grab some lower end Larkins I was missing, and a 1966 Topps Venezuelan Frank Robinson with great eye appeal. It has a little paper loss on the back, as is expected with Vennies, but looks super sharp on the front.

Very nice re-cap. Thanks, Ohio.

This kind of show looks right up my alley. Lot's of space/room.

Collectors don't fear a drop, we get excited about it.

That doesn't sound like someone excited about an impending drop.

Getting rid of stuff that doesn't align with the auto sets I now collect. I have a bunch of stuff from the 80's/90's that I've been sitting on for decades that I have no use for. Remember stuff like those hologram Griffey autos from the mid 90's that Upper Deck put in packs? I've got 5 or 6 of certain releases, I don't need them, they weren't part of a set. I think they were called SPX.

Oh, man. Those SPx autos were sweet. Didn't they do a Piazza and Griffey in 96? Two sounds like a set to me.

I'm a buyer on all things cool from 1990s and early 2000's. No 1099 from me either.

Looking for Andre Dawson Serial numbered cards that are his jersey number - either #8 or #10. So looking for cards like 8/8 or 08/99 or 10/250.

I set up at the DUVAL card show (Jacksonville) this weekend. This is the third time they have had it (quarterly) and they are already bursting at the seams and moving to a larger venue later this year. This show had 120 tables and a waiting list for dealers. I did not get a chance to walk around much, but I'd say it was about 30-35% TCG and the rest sports. I am all sports and I was busy all weekend. The guy straight across from me was all low/mid end Pokemon slabs (all CGC) and he was crazy busy all weekend.

I am an active buyer and I was nonstop buying yesterday. Today was a little slower, but overall, I spent above my expectations for the weekend. When I go a larger show, I hope to spend an about 10k Friday and/or Saturday and maybe 5k sunday. I was definitely above those numbers here and there weren't very many large purchases to skew the numbers. But there were a lot of nice value purchases in the $30-150 range, which is what I always need the most. People weren't dumping their collections, but I think cashing out of things they didn't want so they could go and buy more boxes or PC Cards. Energy level was high and I heard a disproportionate number of people tell me that "this was their first card show". There is a pretty good monthly show here (different from the one this weekend), so to hear a bunch of people coming to their first show is a good sign for the hobby. This show puts a lot of effort into social media, so I think they brought in some different faces.

I am already getting excited for the buildup to the National.

Oh man I can't stand autos on holograms. I don't remember a Piazza, being from Seattle I would have just bought the Griffeys, but it's time to let them go. I've been going through boxes for a couple hours now, finding stuff I can't even locate comps for.
