I read it costs about 6 cents to produce a pokemon card. Factory cost in this instance is what the factory charges distros and direct accounts to purchase the product. Every single 24/25 basketball hobby product so far is selling right at or below the factory cost on dealernet.

The cost to produce an actual card is negligible. The consumers are paying for the exorbitant licensing costs. In addition to the cost required to obtain game/player worn mem and autos. I think I read somewhere that even for the lowest tier bench players it still costs companies something like $5/per. Basically more than they'd ever be worth in the secondary market.

Ninja, what do you mean by $5/per? Base card, auto or all cards? For every release?

So, if Sekou makes a comeback and they put him on Hoops, he/the league gets $5 for each card he's on?

The last time I tried to have this discussion with you, you insisted that the product was being backdoored at a far lower price than Panini could have gotten at public sale. This is the one thing you have never been able to prove and never will: The actual price that the money tree is paying.

If the lowest public sale of 2024 Prizm football was $15,000 as you say, you simply do not know what the remaining 50% was sold at. Your assumption seems to be that it is being sold FAR cheaper. You yourself said that upwards of a billion dollars in profits was simply gifted by Panini to other businesses.

I'm sorry, but it defies logic. You have concluded that Panini is basically a charity who is willing to make Blowout and others rich at their own expense. You would win a Pulitzer Prize if you could ever prove this. It would genuinely be an exciting Netflix mini-series. In a world where everyone is crying about corporate greed, Mossholic has identified the ONE corporation that is willing to make others rich at their own expense. I'd be the first to watch that special if it ever comes to Netflix.
You can see the MSRP and factory cost for most Panini hobby products. FOTL is usually a drop in the bucket compared to hobby production. If they are giving them hobby for 5 years for a fraction of market value why wouldn't they give certain people FOTL for under the sell out price? Even if it is the floor price that's still bs. An auction is supposed to put everyone on an even playing field. If you want to let some people bid behind closed doors change the auctions to blind big auctions so everyone can bid.

It's either corruption or stupidity. You should be able to put 2 and 2 together. Who it helps and who it doesn't help if Panini the company makes more money or not. The amount they have gifted overall is billions. Just the top few products the last 5 years for both sports would be at least several hundreds of millions of dollars.

Regardless of who you think is or isn't getting it at those prices it is 100% a no doubt fact they have let at a bare minimum the big 3 and the big distributors make more immediate profit the last 5 years on the boxes they have sold them than the total cost Panini is selling those boxes for. Not the profit Panini is making. The total sales cost. What company in the world gives some other small group by far the biggest piece of the pie?

Is there any other company in the world currently that let's their secondary seller presell somewhat limited, 3 and 4 figure, easy to sell items for on average a 300% mark up? Hundreds of products. For 5 years straight. Fanatics saw this was happening when they bought Topps. They changed how they sell product and pricing multiple times since then. It was on a much smaller scale since the big money the last 5 years has been basketball and football which Topps hasn't had licensed. Topps tries to sell at what they deem market pricing more often than not. They sell a good size portion of products online. They aren't selling those products for say $200 to a distributor then $750 online like Panini does with the small amount of hobby they list on their site.

Your idea for a Netflix special or something is accurate. I wonder if 1 of the big 3 sells their business before Fanatics takes over, they will do this. They should.

Well yeah obviously if this is just a screw up and not a hobby box that negates this. So I guess maybe they do have to still buy all the worthless basketball products until the contract is up in what give or take 6 months?

Autos. Even end of the bench bums cost Poopnini and Topps at least $5/per. Perhaps more for on-card (not sure on that). But basically an overpay by these companies since that's more than they'll ever be worth in the secondary market....strictly to fill out checklists and appease obscure-player clecters.

Got it. It does make sense though. Do 200 autos an hour, 5 hours of work for 5k. You gotta pay enough for a rookie/min contract player to be worth their time, even then it's barely enough for someone making a million or so a year.

I think most people don't realize how tiring it is to script your auto that many times in a session. Much less to do it in a nice/concise manner without going way off card or sticker. It's no wonder most of the kids these days just scribe a squiggly line and call it a day.

Are the base cards paper stock (like past years)? Or, more specifically, condition-sensitive issues?

Paper stock. Very shiny and player is embossed. Haven’t looked too hard, but condition seems pretty good.

Thanks for posting this! Was waiting for confirmation of what was in the box.

Can you post pics of the jersey/patches and the auto? Are the jersey cards just boring napkins?

I can post some more pics tomorrow. Most of the jerseys are decent patches. Even the ones numbered to 75 and 125.

I also noticed some of the base were dull and not as shiny like the rest. Not sure if they are the mirror/non-mirror version or if it's just a printing issue with some.

I believe there is a unnumbered mirror parallel so it's probably that

Are the jerseys event/match worn or non affiliated?

Anytime! Just happy that we're all able to rip some "hobby" wax at a low-cost (at least relative to other 24-25 products). It's a nostalgic rip too, glad they revived TC as I've always liked it.
