This blows my mind... Hey guys, let's promote our product by showing collectors that the #1 card in the product is now impossible to pull.

Has nothing to do with hurt. I wasn't even collecting cards in 2007. It has everything to do with people who lied in the past and are still in the industry. Why just start thinking they don't lie about things these days?

Looool! That video is amazing! I can't believe I'm just discovering all this poo now thanks to this thread. The reaction was hilarious, I cringed throughout. I like how they do their shrugs towards one another, as if it couldn't get any worse.

Here's UD's official response:

Upper Deck was very concerned about the reaction of the collecting community to the contents pulled from two boxes of 2007 Exquisite Football during a recent Beckett Box Busters episode.

Upper Deck, like all manufacturers, makes a practice of sending product samples to hobby publications as a way to help preview products and promote new brands with collectors. Upper Deck DOES NOT make a practice of sending "special" boxes and packs to these hobby partners. As anyone can see from reviewing the history of Upper Deck product in Beckett Box Buster episodes, this recent episode was an anomaly.

The cards pulled in the Beckett Box Buster episode occurred because of collation inconsistencies that could have happened in any hobby shop in any part of the world. Upper Deck understands and appreciates collector concerns on this situation and we are announcing a program to deliver these cards back to collectors.

We are offering the cards in the second pack to collectors who have purchased Exquisite Football. Collectors who purchased the product can send the empty box or a receipt from the purchase to the address below. A random drawing from these entries will be held to determine the winners. An additional two sealed packs of 2007 Exquisite Football will be offered to entries in this program.
The Upper Deck Company
NFL Exquisite Box Buster Promotion
5909 Sea Otter Place
Carlsbad, CA 92010

Collectors should include all of their contact information including address, phone number and e-mail address. For each pack purchased, collectors will receive one entry into the wrapper redemption promotion. Proof of purchase must be received by Friday, May 30, 2008. Winners will be contacted directly by Wednesday, June 4, 2008.

In the coming days, Beckett will be announcing how it is giving away the contents of pack No. 1, including the Adrian Peterson 1/1, and an additional sealed box of Exquisite, through an online contest at beckett.com.

So even after this debacle, UD had the audacity to hand pick who got the card for a 2nd time?? lol Way to kick the collector when he's down UD!

Yea, and Forrest Gump isn't "a smart man".... gotta be kidding me.

What does it matter? If we kept threads for 6+ years for everyone that's ever lied about cards this place would be insane. I don't give a crap that this guy lied 6 years ago. And you don't either, since I see you still buy Panini cards. So... what does it matter?

Just stumbled upon this post. I was actually the one who won this card; I had entered the contest and totally forgot about it. I came home from a trip to Vegas (I was 22 years old) and happened to check my hotmail account which I never did. There was an email saying "LAST CHANCE"; If i didnt reply in the next couple days they were going to give it away to someone else. I replied very quickly!

I sold it to a collector in Florida shortly after for like $5k and a Reggie Bush exquisite. That was obviously a different time in the card world, and I had just started my first job so the $5k did wonders.

Anyways, random story but figured people would appreciate!

That card could be six figures right now considering the base Exquisite is $1000 or so.

Oh god I was thinking about this exact story a few days ago. All the breaker nonsense reminded me of this.

Thanks for the aftermath summary. Glad it went to someone who could use it.

I realize I'm bumping up a thread from ages ago, but this topic came up in a forum I'm in and I have to ask the same question that lagalaxyfan23 asked here. How did Beckett and/or Upper Deck benefit from this debacle from back in 2007?

2007 exquisite sold well regardless.

I remember exquisite AP/99 were going for $2000+ and the next year Upper Deck did even better with 2008 exquisite and the Tiger Woods chase.
