20 - Gem Mint 10
18 - Mint 9

First submission with a less than 50% Gem 10 ratio and largest amount of 8's I've received in a single submission. At least most of the bigger cards in the order got 10's

Any idea when the cards get added to the pop report?

Used to fall the day after they were marked as shipped. Not sure if that has changed.

33/56 on a bulk order. Back to reality. They still have zero clue what they are doing.

I may agree, but... what does your post mean?

33 out of 56 got a 10? Should it have been more? Why?

Curious on this too. That's pretty much the average rate on modern right now.

I’m saying even when I get 80-90% on orders, I think some cards are way over graded. On this current order, some iffy conditioned cards got 10’s and cleaner ones got 9’s. We knew all of this already though. Just wish it was more consistent like everyone else.

I'm not sure if there's a similar trend with other products, but looking at Panini Prizm (Football):

2024 Panini Prizm (Football)
- Auth: 5
- Grades: 1 (0), 2 (1), 3 (0), 4 (8), 5 (42), 6 (185), 7 (410), 8 (2,194)
- % of Total: 14.4%
- Grade 9: 8,510 (55.9%)
- Grade 10: 3,862 (25.4%)
- Total: 15,217

2023 Panini Prizm (Football)
- Auth: 30
- Grades: 1 (2), 2 (18), 3 (63), 4 (163), 5 (503), 6 (2,208), 7 (2,292), 8 (18,426)
- % of Total: 6.7%
- Grade 9: 117,764 (42.6%)
- Grade 10: 135,104 (48.8%)
- Total: 276,573

2022 Panini Prizm (Football)
- Auth: 14
- Grades: 1 (0), 2 (8), 3 (25), 4 (82), 5 (315), 6 (1,473), 7 (1,412), 8 (8,052)
- % of Total: 7.8%
- Grade 9: 43,264 (41.9%)
- Grade 10: 48,559 (47.1%)
- Total: 103,204

It’s possible that the 2024 product just has significantly worse quality control, but I don’t think that fully explains the drop in Grade 10 outcomes. Instead, I suspect there’s a deliberate effort to redistribute grades, whether through stricter grading standards or an intentional shift in outcome distribution.

I actually got a 10 on my one 2024 Prizm Football card in the order lol

Thank you for clarifying.

There really is a lot of variance. It might be nice if we could see their process so we could duplicate it ourselves. Transparency so we can see where they are coming from when they assign grades. What lights/conditions they use. What tools if any. That kind of stuff.

It has been discussed multiple times. QC on prizm football this year is atrocious.

How about a 59/135 Gem Rate.

I’ve done about 12 submission (just over 1,100 cards) in the past 8 years and I usually pull a 70-80% Gem Rate. This one hurt.

Looks like our collective constant refreshing of the order status pages has broken their system today

Default Running PSA Order Tracker

First sub just popped since the “new standards”.

5/25 gem rate on ultra modern (mostly bowman). Highlights include an SGC 9.5 10 that crossed to a 6, BGs 9.5 true gem that crossed to a 9, PSA 9 that crossed to a 10, SGC 9 that crossed to a 9. All crack and resubs.

It’s truly a casino.

Same here. I've had two blue-check assembly orders sitting there since last Tuesday 2/18. That's usually the fastest stage, like a day or two.

So let's assume that PSA has started scrutinizing what gets a 10 harder and less 10's are being given. Wouldn't that mean a bump in PSA 9 values across the board, as the even harder to get 10's would become that much more expensive, shifting people to look at getting 9's versus paying a huge premium for a 10?

Or does less 10's mean there will be more 9's, so the pricing for 9's will remain relatively flat, as the increase demand for 9's is offset by the increase in 9's being issued.

There's an Instagram post from someone at WeTheHobby suggesting the prior...9's increase in value relative to raw, despite the increased supply.

This has been a consistent theme with my last 4-5 bulk submissions sitting in assembly for a good 2 weeks. And invariably, grades will be ready right on or about the 45th business day. I get that they want to nudge more people into going with the Value Plus submissions at $40 a pop, but I’m not sure holding completed orders hostage in assembly for 2-3 weeks is the way to do it.

That makes sense....the main draw of buying raw (at least for the "investors") is they believe it has a chance to gem, so they'll pay more for raw than a 9 since the increase for getting a 10 is worth the premium over just buying a 9.

But if the odds of getting a 10 are cut and the prices of 9's increase, more people may simply choose to just get the 9 and avoid trying to get lucky with raw cards getting 10's. So price of raw cards also sag.
