You don't think Pacers on February 24th will be a barn burner? Just made the high flying Grizz look like dust. One of their biggest tests.

So the MVP can be decided on March 10th? Cool

Honestly, if Jokic just smoked the Thunder 2 days in a row, it could make a great case for him.

In the case of a tie, however, SGA still has the advantage

Default Official 2024-25 NBA Season Thread

Another note: With Wemby out, the most contested major award race is shaping up to be Evan Mobley vs JJJ for DPOY. Looking at the graphic below, it's neck and neck:

4 of these metrics can flip either way on any given night they are so close.

*Also... this is post 22,000 for me. I need help lol

If you're confident about Jokic, you should be running to grab the +300 right now for MVP

Interesting info there. It looks like the voting may come down to sobering more subjective unless one of them fails off a cliff

And congrats on 22,000! I’ve appreciated your posts through the years. Unlike others who post on here, I find you more objective and measured.

Hey Thanks! I appreciate hearing that. What keeps me around here is the conversations I have with other sports and sports card fans that are thoughtful and respectful as well. There are a number of people who I don't always see eye to eye with who probably have no idea how much I appreciate them around.

As for this race... it looks like it'll truly be a race to the finish where both guys have a chance to earn the award down the stretch.

I was thinking of the other way around, if the Thunder sweeps them and open a 10 game advantage, I can't see Jokic catching up outside of an injury.

Any other scenario and it's still open.

Cavs absolutely rag-dolling the Knicks on national TV.

Ya love to see it!

When they are on their game, it's crazy how much they can throttle teams. Hoping for a Cavs/Thunder Finals!

I've been saying for a long time now: When Evan Mobley becomes an All-NBA level player, they'll be contenders.

He's getting there.

Memphis just isn't scary. If I'm in the West, I'm hoping for Houston or Memphis in the 1st round.

The MVP was wrapped weeks ago. Just as the NFL's was.

Shai always had the narrative with Chet out. Kept them as the clear number 1 with his high efficiency and clutch 4th quarter statistics. Yoker was just another year of business as usual (though always impressive).

Barring a Wizzards-esque losing streak or thrombosis, it's a wrap.

Don't underthink it.

Max Christie's stats with Dallas through 6:

17/5/4/2(stocks) on 48/46/83 splits. With tremendous defense.

Feel like bruh always gets overlooked due to his El Debarge biopic audition s-curl, but son's nice.

Cavs put the beat down on the Knicks tonight. Love to see it. Mitchell and Mobley is becoming a very nasty duo.

I don't know ninja. Joker is having the best season of the shot clock era, if they end up with the 2nd seed and not too far from the Thunder, it's still up in the air.

Yes, I'm sure.

Club Shay Shay is -549 for a reason.

Yoker is having a tremendous year, but there's no narrative. SGA handled his candle while their second best player was sidelined for months. This is far more decisive victory than Embum's robbery 2 seasons ago.

It's no different than Josh Allen in futbol. I've been putting my money where my mouth is and layering wagers dating back to late december.

It would take a catastrophic OKC slide or season ending injury for him to lose it.

I will die on this anthill.

I'm usually wrong and don't understand today's NBA but not this time. SGA is 100000% MVP

It really isn't close.

For reference, Embum was around -300 heading into the final month when he won. And I was fighting needchapmans tooth and nail about why Yoker was not going to win that year. But he was convinced his BBref advanced metrics made him a shoe in.

SGA is almost double that. And it's not like the Nuggs hypothetically finishing second makes for a compelling argument. They're currently 8.5 games behind. That's a damn ocean gap in today's NBA...nearly a tenth of a season.

OKC has dominated the top spot in the nba power rankings all year. Forget the western conference, they've been the most dominant team in the nba period by most metrics.

I understand though. The general public will try and create a narrative to make the race more intriguing than it actually is.

Justified or not, Yoker isn't going to win 60-70 percent of the MVP's every decade. It's just not feasible. It's going to get increasingly difficult for him to win it going forward. He'll have to not only trounce the competition statistically, but also record wise. Either that or the competition will have to be extremely lackluster. Just as PSA is known to protect the low population reports of grails, the voters are very aware of the historical significance of the award and Kareem's 6. Call it voter fatigue, etc...but that's how it is.

I've been telling these guys who love that tracker so much, if they really trust it, they should be betting every penny to their name.

Jokic at +350 should be free money for them

The only yea they were right about the MVP was the year the Nuggets got the 6th seed and he won which was a major historical outlier
