I sold something, USPS ground advantage for a $50 item, printed shipping label from ebay, and shipped out this Monday.
I just got a message from buyer it was delivered to a PO Box in a different zip than he is (buyer ebay address is not a PO Box). Sure enough I go to tracking and says delivered to PO Box in a town about 1hr from him, in the same state. But the morning of delivery, in fact just an hour before delivery, it was at the buyer’s correct local USPS facility in his zip. How does this possibly happen, and what is the protocol here?

Just did this.
Rare time not only was able to call a local USPS PO number in the buyer’s zip, but they were quite helpful as well. Her theory is it was in the buyer’s correct zip yesterday to deliver, but was missent to the town 1 hr away. And instead of scanning “Missent”, they must have scanned it delivered. Here’s the interesting part: according to USPS internal tracking the package went back into transit, and is actually back in the buyer’s zip code post office as of this morning (assuming will be delivered today). But the public tracking shows none of this and stops after the delivery scan yesterday in the different town. So this begs the question when the package is correctly delivered, presumably today, if it will get an additional delivery scan or remain with just the one from yesterday. Thankfully only a $50 item and not a much more expensive one.

And just to follow up on this I got a call back from the buyers PO saying USPS internal tracking says package was just delivered today correctly to the buyer. And yet the public tracking has nothing past the false delivery scan yesterday. Hopefully will not be an issue.
