(and by the way I also mentioned Bowers in this thread- the logic being that Bowers, Daniels, and Nix were the only 3 rookies ever in real consideration for ROY) |

As much as I like Nix and showed support in his thread, he was never in consideration for rookie of the year by the end of the season. These awards have a large amount of storyline built in, and with Daniels leading (off the bench top of my head,) 5 game-winning drives as the number #2 overall pick and instantly turning around a 4-13 team, he had a storyline no one could compete with.
His ability to perform in the clutch and the extra stress he puts on the defense with his rushing ability are things that don’t necessarily show up on a stat sheet, but they elevate him beyond the other rookie QBs for the time being. |

You were wrong about Daniels. He wasn’t the biggest bust You were wrong avour Nix. He wasn’t the best QB You were wrong about me not saying I was wrong on Nix. You were wrong that Daniels edged out Nix. Ultimately I will forever remind you on the constant bust talk around Daniels if you keep trying to bring up Nix in every Daniels conversation. It’s like too lack the self awareness to realize what you are incapable of doing. Either way, let’s get this back on track. Daniels took the award in a landslide. No one else was even close. Props to all the Slimbois who were on his from the beginning. |

It’s just hard for you as a pure flipper to understand the mindset of collecting. I won’t hold it against you. |

I'd say they were. All five finalists this year had great seasons. The production they put up would have won the hardware for any of them in 2022 and may other years. 2024 was a ridiculously strong year. Daniels simply put up a season like 2020 Herbie (JJeff didn't win) or 2023 CJ Stroud (Puka set rook record, yet distant second) where everyone else is kinda shut out between not being a QB and the level of season the winner QB had. ...Daniels still might be a bust. I think it's reasonably likely. Many ROYs don't make HOF or even fall off bad (Kyler, RGIII, Bradford, Vince Young, etc etc). At this point, we've seen Jayden has the talent to win and make plays. The questions will be if he has the durability and if defenses adjust to his "triple option" style. That remains to be seen. Kingsbury will likely leave for another HC job soon also (seems he passed on the options this year). This 2024 was a rare year where Dallas was a bit of a joke. Washington capitalized. NFC is not getting easier with Caleb, McCarthy, Penix, Rattler upcoming. Heck, NYG might even have a coach and a QB sometime soon also? They sure can't get any worse. Mainly, for Daniels, many a running QB has had a career limited or even cut way short with injuries. Jayden got a significant midseason rib injury as a rook, and also he took a massive blast in the @Tampa playoff game. There will be more of those in years to come if he keeps running and/or extending plays ten or even twenty times per game. Last edited by slyguy; 02-09-2025 at 12:58 PM. |
