There should be a 3rd place game...

Always hated this two week lull...The two Conference loosing teams should play for 3rd place each year. Play it next Sunday before the Super Bowl hype starts. I'd like to see the *Redskins play the Bills more than Pro Bowl stuff. Who wouldn't watch its a NFL game?

Is there a down side to this thought?

These guys don't just play an extra game for free

but it would be a pointless NFL game, one that I'm sure many would sit out on especially if there are some that are on both teams that are going to the Pro Bowl. They would be risking possible injury going into next season where it also could hinder some with their free agent possibilities, it wouldn't make any type of difference with draft order

These guys don't want to play in the pro bowl even, they turned it into a fun trip with dumb games- meaningless, so why would the players want to play in a meaningless game AFTER the super bowl? I get it, as fans we want more football, but it doesn't make any real sense

I am NOT mocking the idea, and if they started doing it, I would watch. I just don't think you could get the NFLPA on board.

What are you a player rep? How do you know?

What are the 'Skins and Bills playing for now? What if the two teams want that extra gameday check and the action to keep the season rolling for one more night?

As far as I know, Football players want to play some football and get paid. Period.

Oooh and let's play the game overseas too! I'm sure after hearing him talk last night that Josh Allen would be psyched to lace them up again for a shot at a participation trophy!

I think after the grind of a 17-game season, I can't imagine players wanting to play for 3rd place when they're still most likely dealing with the sting of losing in the Conference Championship the week before. I just don't think they're wired that way, extra cash or not.

Even if you had it, it would be a glorified preseason game where the stars sit out and let the rest of the depth chart play.
