Default Crossover

Hi,

What's been your experience with crossing over a BGS 9.5 Gem Mint into a PSA 10 Gem Mint?

Which of the subgrades that likely will not allow a crossover to occur?

For example, if you had:

Centering 9.5
Corners 9.5
Edges 9.5
Surface 9

Is that likely to crossover?

What about lets say:

Centering 9.5
Corners 9
Edges 9.5
Surface 9.5

Would that crossover?

Thanks

I would recommend always cracking unless you have at least a 10 and 3 9.5. Not cracking a slab with a 9 is throwing away money.

Surface 9
or
Corners 9

Are not likely to cross.

SUCCESS: I've cracked out an 8.5 centering and got a PSA-10 (I'm pretty sure it would have failed a crossover attempt so I did not try)

SUCCESS: I've attempted a crossover with a true gem+ (10 surface) and it got a PSA-10 (as I expected)

FAIL: I've failed a crossover of true gem+ (10 on centering, rest were 9.5).

SUCCESS: ^ CRACKED and sent this same card raw, then it got a PSA-10

Beckett's grading is very lenient. Even if you have all 9.5 subgrades, it will likely come back as a PSA 9. The biggest thing you must watch for is the surface, which is very hard to see through that thick BGS case. Just expect a 9 and hope for a 10.

Thanks for all the input.

I'm looking at a particular card, a BGS 9.5, with all 9.5 subgrades except surface at 9. Seller is asking $1,200 for it, but I'm going to skip it, because I have no confidence that it would cross to PSA 10.

This card's version in a PSA 9 goes for about $200, and a PSA 10 goes for about $3,000. So, it's a real risk that one way or the other could be really good or really bad. I mean, I could lose a grand, or gain two grand, but I have a feeling I will lose, due to a surface of 9.
