Default Canadian Collectors are Finished

Canadian Dollar at 69 cents and dropping. Invest in Stomping Tom albums.

That's fine they wouldn't be able to get their cards until mid-2025 anyway when the backlog from the postal strike is cleared.

I bought a brand new truck last year and I slowed my wax purchases a lot, I should be fine with the currency devaluation, but I want Trudeau out!

Even when the backlog is cleared CP has still become an excessively expensive way to collect. I took a look at my hobby budget over the last year and I'm going to be significantly pulling back on purchases through mail. I spent almost $2000 on shipping last year....would rather travel to some big shows with that money.

Makes sense, $2k is getting you some very nice cards in this price slump, better option than spending it strictly on getting cards to you lol

Would do my own but mine had to do with delays......should this be upped with the new tariffs? I'm done keeping up with the political circus, didn't know cards were affected but I'm already seeing D&A has stopped shipping to Canada.

I miss the 1 dollar bill, not that it would have much value for anything these days...

If you spend physical cash your change holder can weigh the amount of small weight with the loonies and toonies and smaller change and have the purchasing power of a third world large banknote....

EVERYTHING is getting tariffs, if it doesn't now it will. Even loopholes being sewed up I just saw today Trump ended the loophole Shein/Temu etc and even people in the Topps Japan Edition thread were talking about where if it was under $800 it wouldn't be affected. COMC ships from Washington so it makes sense any shipments to Canada are affected, not sure if this affects submitting or selling on there but this is for people from Canada buying I believe.

A lot of problems get ignored until they are on your doorstep, I knew this was gonna be an issue a month ago when DA stopped shipping to Canada, there had to be a reason.

Yeah it’s really unfortunate. If it wasn’t for COMC i don’t know if I would still be involved in the hobby. I use them for the Comc mailbox service since shipping on eBay is ridiculous. I also use them as my primary place to buy/sell/flip. It’s the most efficient place for me cost wise and time wise. I was readying an order of about 200 cards to sell as I’m trimming my PC but I’m nervous to now. 30% duty is ridiculous. I also don’t want have my cards stored there until president Cheeto finishes his term

I sent about 250 small cards to COMC last year to test their platform. More than half of them are sold, it was a positive operation so far. But I won’t send them more cards as long as there is a tariff. I am on the path of downsizing my collection, I will look for bulk transactions inside Canada for a while.

Was looking at a card that is in Canada and pretty well priced, all things considered...

But they wanted $100 to ship it, seemed a bit aggressive, but not sure I'd even wanna take the risk of things going over the border right now...

That's unusual. Was it a pricey card?
Normally I see that from a lot of American sellers that use the global shipping program but not from CDN sellers.
If that is way offside compared to what you normally see I'd write the seller and ask him why? It is possible he is unaware of that shipping fee and will correct it.
