Not really a Yankees fan, but when I do buy Yankees it's usually this guy.

QuinEarlyDoucet -- Awesome piece, that is unique! Everyone held onto cards and magazine covers, but I wonder how many newspapers have survived? I worked on newspapers doing graphic design so these full page layouts have a soft spot for me. I have a New York Times page from Subway Series signed by Rivera and hung in my office.

mantlefan7 - Great collection and focus!

Americards - I am the opposite. I am a few dozen cards away from completing 1952-2015 Yankees Topps sets. But for 2016-2024, I've held off on getting the base and SPs, until prices come down.

As a Yankee collector, I've thought about this question often trying to find my niche and refining my focus. My card collection is 95% Yankees.

My primary focus is of Paul O'Neill. I've collected him for about 20 years. Currently, one card away from 7/8ths complete on his playing year cards. 930/1064 = 87.41%. For him, I am trying to get everything through 2002, but I can't see my self starting another such a deep collection given the time and investment required.

My secondary collections are of Rivera and Matsui. For Rivera, I stick to early and on-card pack pulled autographs and for Matsui, it is comprised of signed and limited rookie cards. I have just a dozen or so cards of each of these guys.

Another layer of collecting Yankee players is for me is to find players and cards spanning different eras and sets similar to a vintage "type collection. I want my collection to span multiple eras which influences which cards I pick up of certain players.

For example, Dr. Bobby Brown 1950s Bowman, Mel Stottlemyre 1960s Venezeulan, Munson 1970s OPC, Mattingly 1980s Tiffany. The 1990s is covered mostly by my O'Neill collection, but I just picked up a 2000 SPx Radiance parallel of El Duque, a parallel I never owned, because O'Neill was on the checklist.

My "side" collections are a of guys like Taillon, Brosius, Orlando Hernandez, Ichiro, John Olerud, Hideki Irabu, Randy Johnson, Shelley Duncan, Jim Abbott, Phil Hughes, Luis Sojo, David Cone. Mostly fan favorites and journeymen. This allows me to expand beyond the 90s and to have release like Topps Cosmic, Bowman Chrome, and Ultimate Collection.

For legends like Ruth, Gehrig, Munson, Jeter, DiMaggio, Mantle who have so much high-end stuff, I try to pick up just one or two iconic cards. Either vintage, limited or autographed. Quality over quantity.

I'm sitting on a lot of Jones stuff, really hoping he 1) isn't traded in the next two months, and 2) comes into spring with that new swing figured out. Last season in AA wasn't really as good as I hoped for him, times ticking

This is so awesome.

Crazy to see Todd Helton, Preston Wilson, and AJ Hinch on there as well.

In this order:

Mattingly
Judge
Martian
Volpe
Cole
Godzilla

Don't really collect too much of Jeter, Mo, etc. because the prices are just too high for the stuff I am interested in.

Andy Pettitte.
Made a bit of a custom checklist to hopefully one day complete. Yankees Uniform only, no AU/GU, nothing #'d under 9.
Currently at 1465/1623, just recently passing the 90% mark.

Figured a good a thread as any to ask, did Scott Brosius ever sign cards for inserts? I didn't see any Yankees ones on eBay.

Amazing what a 3-3 Spring Training game can do for sales . . .

Anyone here collect/have/see any Graeme Lloyd autographs? I've been trying to track down an OMLB Baseball (or OAL/ONL) w a blue auto on the sweet spot forever. He's the last piece to complete my 1998 Yankees baseball collection.

If anyone stumbles on one at a local show please lmk, I'll pay a finder's fee.

I am way too deep on Jasson stuff right now... especially for how he has looked in left so far this spring lol.

I've picked up a few good Jazz cards because I like the swag he brings, but bought those more for flips. I'll keep his 1st gold refractor and his 21 heritage real one... everything else will get sold if his market rises at all.
