Good question….Blaze, Gambit, Red Skull (well he probably won’t be in it anyway), probably missing some others. Idk they did have them as-is with buybacks in MM16, but those were literal buybacks. It’s true, probably something they wouldn’t want on a marvel trading card, maybe sold large scale at retail no less

Speaking of alterations, I think they should use the Wonder Man card as Joe originally painted with the oscar trophy. Assuming no issues with the Academy etc.

I even wonder if a suggestive card like White Queen makes it in unscathed. They did after all skip over Shanna in the MM XL (although they did include the White Queen in XL which is basically a pinup).

I pretty much lost hope in there being a checklist card. Those lost lady cards on the sell sheet make me think UD is just gonna fill out the banned character and checklist with those 5, to make a 100 card set.

Wish I could be at UD designing a set like this. I don’t think they realize a checklist would actually be kinda unique and sought after in a set like this, particularity in parallels.

I’m in for a blaster case too.

Marvel retail blasters can be such hit or miss (MM XL for the most part a miss), but if this is anything like regular Platinum retail, where you could actually hit a lot of good stuff like low # parallels and their blue surges were nice, I have good expectations for these blasters. The Purple cracked ice variant cover on the sell sheet do like nice as a retail exclusive. Hoping the value will be there with these blasters.

Sell sheet has the Gambit card, so doesn't seem to be an issue (at least on the promotional materials)

Just from a card/dollar ratio the blasters look great. $30 for 24 cards or 48 cards for $300.

It’s UD’s marvel card swan song imo. Has a little bit of everything. I think it’ll be very popular.

Have confirmation on a blaster case with my LCS. Not as good a deal as Bub's but good enough.

Looks like blasters are much more like Metal Universe Avengers than they are Marvel Platinum, missing all the really good stuff.

I really can't believe this is making it to epack. Maybe everyone's assumption on the 12/31 license end date isn't correct.

Are blasters showing up at Walmart? Might head to one tomorrow if so.

GPK? Not since I was 12. Which is what I always thought those were aimed at. (I know, I know, I'm way wrong about that!)
I'd say the original GPK sets were aimed at kids way younger than 12. By 12, most of us had outgrown them. I buy them now out of nostalgia. I bought them when I was in elementary school because they were gross and funny and fun to trade or stick on things. Plus, they were 25 cents a pack, so affordable for kids. I also bought Wacky Packages, but those were harder to find. I bought these all at the gas station when my Dad let us kids pick out a candy bar once a week or so. He'd let us get a pack of cards instead of candy if we wanted.

I think those sets were definitely for kids back in the 80s-90s, but now they are mostly bought by adults out of nostalgia, although I do see kids picking up blasters at Target/Wal-Mart and such.

Looks like Jubilee replaced Punisher in the checklist. She’s card #100

Lol wut?

This is nuts. The original 92MM needed just the front and back of one checklist card to list every card. In the 2024 set we need 132 pages!

I can’t believe they are doing 100 mirage lenticulars, one for each card. This is why the checklist is so huge…these are all 100 card parallel sets! Even the Holofoils. Crazy.

These are the cards Im seeing replaced by lost ladies:

#47 Mandarin by Scarlet Witch (dunno why…possibly a stereotype, or just the character is irrelevant)

#55 Meggan by Feral (dunno why)

#73 Punisher by Deathbird (punisher always banned now, logo etc)

#100 Checklist by Jubilee (to my annoyance….I wanted a good ol fashioned checklist, with parallels).

I googled it and still don’t know the answer but per Wikipedia description I’m guessing it’s due to her creation in a Marvel UK comic by Alan Moore so maybe some weird rights issue…

“Meggan Puceanu is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually as a supporting character in stories featuring Captain Britain, and the X-Men. A mutant empath and shapeshifting elemental, she was created by writer Alan Moore and artist Alan Davis”

Completely nuts! They basically applied every single card technology known to man to this set. And I love it! What a fun monstrosity this is. Somehow they did miss the thing I was most looking forward to though, doing all the treatments to the Battle Spectrums. Just base and rainbow for those.

Guessing it will help the original set that this won't be a true 1:1 reproduction, as there are multiple replacements
