The 5:00pm deadline is approaching...any update on the Cole-Yankees contract situation?

What's Cole's rationale when this ultimately ends up as if he never opted out at the first place?

Worse case, he gets $36 million added to his deal, he is now owed 180m

Best case, the Yankees didn't void and he becomes a UFA where he would get 200m or more

This was brilliant on the Yankees and Cole's part. I think the #1 thing it did was send a signal to Boras that the Yankees want Soto. Cole delays the forcing of adding the last year of the original contract to see what the Yankees can do while maintaining the ability for the two sides to negotiate a contract extension at a later date.

The Yankees did not extend a qualifying offer to Gleyber Torres.

I stand corrected and ESPN should update their article.

That’s why I usually don’t get involved in offseason discussions. I just let everything unfold and see what we have in spring training.

What do they plan on doing with Cabrera and Peraza. So sick of them hyping up players when they already have players better than Durbin on the roster.

My guess is if they don't go after him in free agency, they move Chisholm to 2B.

ESPN jumped the gun on reporting. Turning into fake news themselves to get the story out quick. It is weird what happened though. I would have liked to have been in the room to see what was said to make money-hungry Boras accept this.

Peraza is a utility player at best. Cabrera is slightly better. Cabrera may be the opening day third baseman or first baseman. Just have to see how the off season free agency market unfolds for the Yankees.

Yes they are but they were once as highly touted as Durbin, that is my point. When is the last time other than Judge a homegrown talent reaches expectations.

Dominguez. If they ever let him play full time in the majors.

Yeah media now doesn't care about accuracy its all the first to "breaking news" which is never actually breaking news. If they're wrong, nobody cares as they've already moved on to the next story.

While I am in the win-now camp of possibly signing Bregman and moving Jazz to third.

I have always been a promote from within and see if they can work it out guy. I want to root for our developed playes.

Why not let Durbin, Cabrera, Peraza, Downs, Vivas (or whatever his name was) all battle it out to play whichever spot (third or second) Jazz isn't going to play. Best man wins.

5'6 for Durbin, that seems really short to play 3B.
