If Hal isn't cheap, he's not going anywhere.

If Mets go 15yr/??? (Really big number), I assume he goes there. Yanks might pull a Nats, offer less, hope he wants to stay at a discount. Someone create a poll yet? Must be coming soon if not already started |

Mets seem most likely of any of the franchises in play to win the bidding war.

I could see Houston going for him. They shed a ton of payroll and Tucker is a fa after next year.

Same problem Dodgers have, they have Alvarez at DH and he isn’t going anywhere and it’s not unheard of Soto will be getting more DH duties.

He doesn’t need to DH. I swear his fielding is more than serviceable and he is durable. Tired of bots pushing this narrative. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It’s mids man, his D is mids.
How that banishes you to strictly DH I don’t know. But I do think DH gives you longevity my friend. This is my contrarian stance to the topic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't see him going there - would be very surprising - he wants a big market

Have seen several sources say the Cubs could be in play. That would certainly be an interesting situation. Chicago has decent pitching with Imanaga and Steele and the offense is up and coming as well with guys like Crow-Armstong and veterans in Swanson, Hoerner, and Happ. Soto could be the piece to put them over bump and into the playoffs again.

Here’s my order of likelihood.
1. Yankees 2. Phillies 3. Orioles 4. Dodgers 5. Mets

Yes, one bad play compared to multiple plays of Soto diving and missing the ball throughout the season.
And if you took the time to read any of my posts, I have been very critical of the Yankees continuing to play Judge in CF instead of Dominguez due to advanced metrics presented here on BO that show Judge is an average at best centerfielder. He was a gold golve caliber right fielder though.

Soto should be in LF not RF if at all. His speed, range, and arm strength are all subpar.
His defense will probably continue to decline as he ages. Could make him a 1B down the road similarly to Harper. Or just a full time DH. Regardless he gets paid and will get paid for his bat.

The Nationals have some exciting young talent. I would not be surprised if they didn't make a play for a "homecoming", they offered him $440M before even though it was a 15-year offer...Khal had the Orioles on his list, and, with new ownership, you never know what they may do, I think they are a dark horse, although they need starting pitching pretty bad, and need to make a run at Burnes and maybe a Manaea-type...my list:
1. Yankees 2. Mets 3. Dodgers 4. Nationals 5. Orioles |
