With all due respect, rings don't even enter my mind when I'm collecting a player.
Maybe I'll collecting the wrong players? |

Out of every player I ever collected, I think the Royals under Brett is the only "person" that won a ring with his drafted team... other cards I had from childhood had been pre-WS and out of those I think peak Braves had been the best era for collecting as players never chased the FA market to the scale of today. AL/NL Central in my opinion has pushed better stats across pitching+batting, teams that are too heavy on higher pitching or batting tend to flop hard. I'm waiting for the HR/power hitting strategy to fall apart due to declining batting averages, its unsustainable and any player batting under .200 looks like an idiot chasing every strike zone pitch... pitchers are saying secretly "have some meatballs and now you're full" and hello you're into Bobby Dalbec & Rob Deer zone.
Teams typically swap out players by the mid-point so rosters are rarely the same these days vs previous eras and coaches can figure out pushing stats outside of analytics(Tigers ignored analytics of using pitchers that had an ERA above 5.5 that could work the plate on a precision level than throwing fastballs at a stupidly high amounts. Look at this season, the Tigers nearly cleared house to free up their budget thinking a .500 win record had zero chance at a playoff. Their coach flipped the theory of a bad season into a good one, same can be said of the Mets and Yankees. |

You knew what I meant, but I honestly didn't expect any less. I was talking about when a team is on offense trying to win a game late, and how different it is in baseball.

For the same reason that NFL/NBA “RPA’s” go from $10,000 to $65 in a matter of weeks.

They say it for Biggio too. And if he juiced, he did a terrible job of it.

If my username was Tombrady7799, I'd completely agree.
Alas, it is not. I don't own a single Tom Brady card. i collect a few Steelers, however. 99.9% of my collection is baseball. Also no, to Brady Anderson. Gosh, i must be doing this wrong too. =) |

Baseball playoffs are more about luck than skill.

There are 4 teams left. 3 of them have the highest payrolls in baseball. That's a lot of skill. But that's why they play a 7 game series, so its more skill than luck.

I understand that you were disrespecting the Patriots defenses who held the greatest show on turf Rams to 17 points, shut out the Falcons the last 23:30 of SB LI enabling the Pats to comeback and send the game to OT, and held the Rams to 3 points in SB LIII. It is a team game. Give Brady the crappy Dolphin defenses that Dan Marino had and Tom Brady has the same number of rings that Marino has. |

What the Braves did in the 90s (all those division titles with 1 WS ring) was way more impressive than what the Marlins did between 1997-2003 (2 WS rings with no .500 seasons in between).

With the key word in the subject of this thread being "collectors." Everyone collects what and whom they collect for different reasons.
Some people like collecting cards of guys who played on their team's world series winning team. Some people like collecting cards of guys who just played on their team at any point. Some people like collecting their team's greats. Some people just like collecting greats. Period. Some people like collecting guys from their home state. Some people like collecting the player whom they just flat out enjoyed watching play. Some people like collecting champions. And on and on and on and on It seems weird to try and lump all baseball card collectors into one thing or another. One of the best things (if not the best thing) about collecting cards is there are a ton of ways to collect and none of them are right and none are wrong. All that matters for collecting is what is right for you.

Individual superstar players can contribute more in crunch time in football and basketball. You have to wait your turn to hit in baseball. That is literally all I was saying. If you want to keep playing semantics to be petty, go ahead.
