I mean...aren't some of the basic fundamental-processes of which autograph authentication is based on; signing repetitions, consistencies in ink flow, pressure, etc....?!? 'Cuz,...quite literally, I don't see ANY of the aforementioned characteristics,...in ANY/ALL of the below referenced slabs.

Since you’re obviously not into in-person autos, you’re only going off pack-pulled Luka signatures. This is what Lukas in-person auto looks like and it ranges from Lulu to this

And there’s an entire market for these as there’s a pretty big(and growing) subset of the hobby that collects in person signed rookie cards

Imo they’re much better than sticker autos - the classic Luka prizm 280, w/ an ON CARD auto, looks much better than the stickered version panini put in 2018 prizm. I get it tho - a big % of collectors only collect pack-pulled but on the ip graph side, these are run-of-the-mill authentic Luka autographs

My sons and myself have gotten him quite a bit, he’s a great signer. His signed base prizm rc has fluctuated but they routinely go for $500-600/pop, slabbed. We got two signed prizm silver rc’s in the pc (and those have sold for $1-2k over the past couple years)

There's a huge market for IP Autos. Especially on iconic cards of the big names.

I would love to watch Luka play and get some cards Auto'd.

Especially with all the rumors of him not signing his earlier Autos.

What a great feeling it must have been for you and your Sons.

And I agree - iconic cards with an on-card auto is tough to beat. We’ve slowly been adding to the collection. I’ve posted some stuff in different threads but one of these days I’ll have to make a single post with photos

Yeah Luka is awesome, by far the best signer in the NBA at games. My sons have some really nice cards in their collection

Very nice! I like the metal cards but always wondered how they graded them.

The corners are intentionally rounded and since it's a metal card, I figure the edges are razor sharp. But I've graded a few and a lot of them come back between 8-9 overall with like a low grade on the corners. It was a mystery to me.

I'm sure they're legit and I'm sure there's a market for them. I sort of agree with the poster though. It seems like most players autos have gotten progessively worse over the years (I'm sure signing thousands of stickers is part of the problem). When an auto is "O" or "K.", it's pretty dumb that they're authenticated. I don't care who you are, if the auto is one or two letters, there is absolutely no way to say it's real or not. I could sit here with a pen and replicate those easily after a few tries. So personally I'm in the camp of -if I was there and had someone sign it, it would go in my pc. Otherwise, I'd never buy an in person auto.

I get it - that’s fine, there’s an entire portion on the strictly card collecting side that would agree with you.

But there’s an entire subset of people that does value in-person stuff/will spend good money on it. Both sets of collectors will continue to exist - It is what it is.

A lot of sticker autos have crappy autos too, so it’s not like you’re getting some grand auto that couldn’t be replicated. And you’re stuck with a sticker. As far as the Luka 280, the only way to get an on-card auto is an in-person and some people appreciate owning one. Like I mentioned, not every Luka is rushed. We have some that look like pack-pulled autos. It ranges.

At the end of the day, everybody will collect what they collect. I don’t collect vintage, and yet vintage collectors definitely aren’t paying me any mind.

My fellow Doncicians,

I enjoy hearing about how cards have helped improve the lives of ppl here on the board in various ways big and small, so here's my current situation.

I finally decided to pull the trigger on moving some of my Lukas. I could/should have sold during the pandemic for like I dunno 5x (haha...whoops) but I always asked myself what would I have done with the money and didn't really have a good answer besides put it in a savings account so I held.

But, a real estate investment opportunity came up so I decided to part with some shiny Lukas. Coupled with my belief that modern stuff besides true golds and really nice RPAs (Flawless over NT!!!) is likely to keep going down, I took the plunge and cashed in.

I still have a couple of nice Lukas but glad Luka could help me with some real life opportunities.

That's a grail card for me. I'd probably have to gut my Luka collection to get one but I love Black Velocities. I have to settled for owning a Pink right now

I've never owned the Pink version but would like to pick one up someday. I guess I just like the velocities in general but the pink looks great with the Blue Mavs uni.

i didn't go hard enough on the luka train in 2020. did get lucky when i bought a single box of immaculate for 1k and pulled a true rpa redemption. flipped it unredeemed for 7k as i didnt want to chance redeeming and getting a streaky auto or surface scratches.

this is my one big recent pickup. i like the mavs team this year and chip looks possible and a first of hopefully many mvps. maybe one day it will be in the range of lebron and steph chrome refractor golds. regardless, its a beauty to own.
