Man, I get goose bumps thinking about Sho starting a 2025 playoff elimination game and batting in the top-third the same game.

You can't stop collecting a guy like that.

This is why he left the Halos - let's go and get it tonight!

Throwing the first pitch of the game then batting leadoff in the bottom half of the inning. Unicorn stuff, folks.

I was going to say that another year or two of elite starting would be awesome.

I could not care less as long as he stays healthy!

If Sho's base running improvements this year are any indication, I expect noticeable pitch efficiency gains next season. The biggest self criticism he had with himself in 2023 is pitch economy. You know he's going to cyborg-upgrade with the dodger analytics and try to put it into play more. The heat will always be in his back pocket!

I agree!!! But, do you have any concern with Prior being the pitching coach and all of the pitching injuries they have had? I get they are up across all starters, but it seems the dodgers have perennially had awful injuries after entering the season with a bolstered pitching staff.

At this point, I wouldn't put ANYTHING past Shohei.

The fact that he came into spring training and asked the dodgers training staff to help him run faster so he could swipe more bags then goes out and steals >50..... Dude has a level of dedication and focus to any goal he sets that is almost unfathomable.

I don't know if it's a direct correlation. When they signed Glasnow, nobody thought he was going to be a 200 inning horse and here we are. Stone was also going to be innings limited anyway. They're lucky they even have Knack as a contributor.

I think that's precisely why Sho needs to learn to pitch to contact and throw his stressful pitches less (split/100+ sinker/FB). This team had one of the most durable pitchers of their generation so I think it's too small of a sample size to just blame Prior. It's not like workhorse pitchers came to this team and fell apart. None of these guys were built up.

Oats is approaching uncharted territory here, if he makes an out in his first AB then he's officially below the Mendoza Line for his playoff career. Hard to believe he has fallen off so far after game 1. Did he peak too early? 50/50 looks really dumb in hindsight when you flame out like this.

Well we avoided all that. See you in a week or so for your next hot take.

Would have been a bang bang call if he hadn’t slid off the bag.
