Detroit is now going to have their defense stretched to nearly every pass being a 3 step and some 5 step drops to as many 5-7 step drop passes as they had 3 step. It’s been noticeable since the injury and the Lions know that Dak has to pass every time.

Hutchinson was easily the most dominant pass rusher in the NFL in pressures and was leading in Sacks. Horrible to see this young man suffer a devastating injury.

I don't care what it costs. Crosby needs to be on this team on Monday.

Holmes played it safe last year and it cost them in the title game. He HAS to make a move this year.

I don't see how you Mike McCarthy keeps his job after this. What a joke. 2 of the highest paid in the league all in and you get your doors blown off like that at home. Jerry should be fired, but we know that ain't happening.

Would we be willing to give up Hooker and some draft capital for Crosby?

Ugg. Sick to my stomach for Hutch. Saw he went right into emergency surgery. Hope he can make a full recovery for next season.

Crosby call should have already been made.

Asking price got way more expensive today. Raiders know what they have. Crosby is probably a pipe dream unfortunately. Maybe someone like Walker from the Jags could be more obtainable.

You can't trade one of your only 2 decent healthy defensive players. Especially since they passed on Hutch for him at #1. I don't see it happening. Fans would demand they move the team if they did.

Lions however can have Armstead for free if you want.

Jags do feel like the most realistic trade partner

What’s bad is, Hutch not only was beating the tackle nearly every passing play, he was getting through being double teams. Detroit isn’t receiving anything from the other end or edge rusher. The double’s that Hutch has been continuously receiving will now be to the inside rushers and that will only make the opponents that much better on offense.

The last dominant rusher the Lions had was Bubba Baker and that was over 40 years ago. This injury hurts. When was the last time a Lion was the front runner for DPOY let alone 5 games into the season. I remember when Barry was injured with around 5 games to go and you know the season is shot. Detroit Is a top tier team but that is with the best top tier pass rusher.

I really thought this was our year. This changes everything on how the defense was able to cover. Hope Hutch is able to return next season.

I assume Porcher was never considered dominant. Just good but not great

From what I remember watching him play. Porcher had a keen ability to rack up the sacks late in games when it was already decided. Like when the Lions already lost and the other team's intensity is dead.

He does almost have 100 career sacks, so that is no slouch. I don't remember him taking over games at any time.

Obviously everyone is hoping for the best, but I'd say based on the Alex Smith injury he'll be lucky to walk the same again. Hopefully he can play football again, but I wouldn't plan on next season.

Two different situations. Smith got an infection that caused sepsis. To say they are the same thing at this point is laughable.

Latest report on Hutch. Broken Tibia and Fibula. Successful surgery. Expected to make full recovery. No surprise, out for the year.

Porcher didn’t have even close to the skill set that Hutchinson has. I heard either a scout or a draft analyst before the draft in Aidan’s class. The scout was asked is their anybody who’s has abilities that stood out. The first name was Hutchinson in how freakishly skilled at 6’7” and 265. The guy started naming numerous things he did that for anybody was considered elite.

Who said they are the same thing? I said based on the information regarding the Alex Smith injury...

Obvously we're not expecting the injury to get infected, but the infection lengthened the recovery timetable substantially. The infection is not what has altered the functionality of his leg--that is the result of the initial injury.
