I ordered a case of 20 WNBA Select Blasters from Dicks Sporting Goods for $725 tax and shipping included.

Can pull Tigers and Color Wheels from it.
Also cards numbered from 399 to 1/1s!

Felt like this a good price with hobby boxes preselling at $750

Mind sharing a link? I don't see those on there. Nevermind. Looks like they aren't available.

This first year of Clark cards are going to be an interesting balancing act. Panini wants to capitalize on the Clark phenomenon, but by squeezing out a wider audience through crazy prices.

Since the license is leaving, I guess its clear that calculus isn't too troubling for them.

Panini made their money on Caitlin Clark from Instant cards. They will make essentially nothing compared to their good friends on all 2024 WNBA hobby. Select hobby Panini is selling almost all of it for give or take $113 a box. The people making the big money are the very small number of bums Panini sells hobby directly to. Just like every other in demand product. For 4 1/2 years and counting.

I don't know how some people still don't realize that on countless hobby products the last 4 1/2 years Panini's cost per box could be $0 for every single box and the price manipulators are still the ones taking by far the biggest piece of the pie.

What other business in the world has this ever happened on in demand, limited, easy to sell, usually more expensive items?

Hobby is not preselling at $750. It's set at $750 from the bums that sell less than 1% of their inventory at those preorder prices listed way over MSRP. Just like everything else, you can find it cheaper somewhere else. There is no Panini hobby product selling way over MSRP in the last several years that you couldn't find cheaper preorder or at release versus the price posted on the websites of the price manipulators.

It blows my mind that the "value" created by having the licensing rights to print pictures of women onto cardboard and putting a WNBA/Team logo on it has changed such that 5 years ago said value was say $80/box to now being nearly $800 a box. Just to print photographs of women onto cardboard. $800. Doesn't compute.

I was able to get some when they came back in stock this morning. Thanks for sharing over the weekend! Wouldn't have thought to check DSG for these. I appreciate it very much.

Yep, still on the site. Grabbed a case as well, will be interesting to see how the interest is with it being off season by the time it releases.

Am I reading it correctly that these won't ship until January 2025?

It’s a placeholder. From what I’ve seen they traditionally ship much earlier than that based on when retail hits shelves.

Thanks, MTBRM. I was hoping that was the case, but wasn't certain because I'd never ordered from them before. Appreciate you sharing!

FOTL page is up, if I was bullish on this product I'd be sitting waiting for this one. I always follow FOTL exclusives and two cards #/3 and an auto #/5 guaranteed is pretty good, add in Clark and it's extremely good. If for some reason it starts at $1000 I'd say the extra $300 is almost worth it, could end up going for more after the fact.

I was wondering if they’d do a FOTL, curious to see what it starts out at. I know it’ll end up going for way more, but I’d feel like pulling the trigger at around $450-500 given the product outside of Caitlin.

I'm of the opinion that, unless you're extremely well-off financially, anybody who paid top dollar for anything WNBA - including Caitlin Clark - is going to be kicking themselves in 5-10 years time.

$100k for a Caitlin Clark card? LOL.

The women's league for Australian rules football went through this forced hype-train a few years ago.

Quote:
From AFLW's 'golden era' in 2019 and 2018, a year in which crowds averaged 6,349, numbers have since declined. In Season 8 (2023) the average attendance had dropped to 2,868 people.
Quote:
AFL 2023: Why Australians have switched off AFLW
And there's a whole lotta excuses as to why... but the real reason is clear: women aren't genuinely interested in their own game, and men just aren't ever going to be long term fans because they're naturally inclined toward exceptionalism and the heights of competition.

WNBA will regress to its mean. If you regret not buying NBA when prices were low, you will absolutely regret buying anything WNBA right now... unless you've got cash to burn.

AFLW was propped up by the feminist mantra, and women empowerment.
WNBA is being propped up by racial division, rumours, gossip and argument.

Both will end up where they started.

Comparing the WNBA to….*checks notes*…an Australian semi-pro women’s football league is certainly a choice lmao

Right now, Caitlin Clark is selling for more than Victor Wembanyama.

Australian rugby? 😂 you obviously don’t understand what you’re speaking on. Just because you’re not into Caitlin Clark doesn’t equate to much.

You’re one of those guys who gets steaming mad about anything having to do w/women lol shxts hilarious
