Default Chicago Non-Sports Card Show 2024

Does anyone have any information about this (hopefully) upcoming show? I checked it out last year and would love to check it out again but I can't seem to find any active information about it (I don't log into facebook, which might be where there's news. dunno). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is it true the main shows specifically devoted to nonsports cards are Philly and Chicago….thats mainly it, right?

The Philly one seems like it is geared around what I call old school nonsports- vintage sets, sketches, Knick knacks, with some newer stuff mixed in….im pretty sure not as much Spidey Metal PMGs or 2016MM legendary oranges etc (correct me if I’m wrong). Is the Chicago one like the Philly one in that respect or is it kind of blend and have a bunch of new sets too?

October 18 and 19. Awesome. Thank you! If you've got the location information handy (beyond Carol Stream) and don't mind posting it between now and then I'd appreciate it. Hope to see everyone there! I picked up some fun stuff last year and it was a good time all around. Thanks again for chiming in, y'all.

Went to my first Philly show earlier this year, May? There was not much new stuff, (last ten years or so), but there is some. This guy does some good videos of it.

Some dealers treat it like a flea market with the ancillary products.

Though this link goes to Fall 2023 info, the show doesn't really change year to year

That link and url just don't open for me. I have been trying to google this information for months, I promise. And I don't recall exactly where I drove to last year.

Thanks for the comprehensive look-through (nice Rocky music playing in the second clip lol).

I think that’s what I expected for the Philly- more old school nonsports- vintage, artists, movie sets and oddball monster and whacky cards. And GPK seems to be very prevalent. Old school non sports does have a charm.

Since I mostly collect Marvel I’m not sure exactly how much I’d find at such shows….probably not a ton at least at the Philly one, although I do see a spattering
of marvel boxes in the one clip.

On the other hand a sports card show like the National or Dallas, if it even has a marvel card table it’ll be like all shiny PMGs and FUA Avengers medallions etc, which I don’t collect.

Was disappointed with Philly so much flea market junk. The best dealers at Philly are also at Chicago imo.

I was cleaning the basement and regrettably did NOT make it out to this. Did anyone get out? PrinceVegeta? How did it go?

Is Ed Webb (Scificards) who runs the Chicago show no longer active here?

I've been going to the Philly show for 10+ years. I've always found plenty of modern cards, including marvel, at the show. Boxes, singles, etc...

That said, more and more of the vendors with modern stuff drop every year. I think most of that is just moving to online.

Honestly the manufactured rare stuff you are looking for, even if they have it at the show, it's also listed on eBay. Just buy it there and save yourself a trip to the middle of nowhere PA. If you are looking to fill out some common parallels and inserts that will cost more to ship then they are worth, well that is where the show shines in my opinion. The people that fly over from the UK.... I have never understood that. It's about a 90 minute drive for me and I'm in the fence if it's worth it.

I'm here.

I stepped down from promoting the show effective last October. The time and cost to be out of town for 3.5 weeks to do Chicago and Philly in one trip became too much trouble for the income.

Kevin Bennett of K&J Non-Sports Cards now runs the show himself (we ran it together for 12 years).

I still have LOTS of friends who set up and lots of friends who go to these shows, so I support them when I can. It's just not my gig anymore to promote.

Ed

Amazing detail, Bunny Hop, not sure if you are joking or not.

I'd love to go to the Chicago show. I went to first philly show in May, looking forward to it this weekend.

Traveled from Virginia for the Philly show and found it disappointingly small. Was it larger in previous years? Is non-sport interest waning? All I know is that the two non-sport dealers at Frank and Sons where I got everything for years are long gone.

It was my second show and it was roughly half the size of the May show. Not sure if the summer is better, or if it was because it was the 80th show. If there were viable options close by I wouldn't go back, but it's the only real game in town for me.
