Mike is a Jack-axx. I remember giving the show a try when it was new and he kept talking about how great they were and they're the show you should listen to and not "these donkeys in their basements" or something like that.

He was constantly punching down on independent content creators who were just getting started and trying to build something on their own.

Just because they don't have corporate backing to foot their bills and have Bill Simmons' connections to get guests doesn't mean other people and their opinions are not valid.

It was real snob crap.

I'm no psychologist. But I think he was bullied pretty hard as a kid and now that he's successful he's turned into the bully.

And also (edit): I'm not "hating" on him for being successful in the space. He was in early, he did smart things, etc. Good for him. Just, when you get to the top of the mountain or near it, don't lean over the edge and spit on the people at the bottom just to be a di-. Have some class.

Agreed, I think it’s great and many of them talk about their PC players so it’s not just about value. For instance, Scotty B is a big Rockies fan and gets hyped to show off his Larry Walker pickups. I think it’s cool he’s so passionate about that despite the fact most of us in the hobby watching aren’t dying for Rockies cards. Same goes for I believe Chris and Freddie Freeman. They do touch a lot on value but to be fair a lot of watchers do care about that, I collect for PC but even then if I know a PC players card value will go up in the future I’ll try to grab it earlier. Passion for collecting and value absolutely are not mutually exclusive and I think they provide a great mix. Also, they are not ego driven, the blabbing about slabbin guys did a consolidation video to get a $15k Ohtani grail and some commenter was like well why didn’t you just buy it in cash immediately and recoup and they responded saying essentially didn’t have $15k sitting around to do that and I felt that. Like I said just my opinion but I’m probably 70:30 collector:investor and those are the best channels I’ve found after looking extensively.

Does anyone know of any channels specifically related to 90s cards? I've found a few podcasts, and a few one off videos but finding a channel that primarily focuses on the 90s and early 2000s has been tough.

The Essential Credentials

I came back into the hobby a year ago and missed this entire era, this vids were invaluable for me learning about so many different sets from the era. Knowledgeable enough that one of the 3 guys just landed a job at Upper Deck.

Precious Metal Gents

This one started not too long ago, some of their episodes are very specific on current sales, specific payers, etc ... less of a learning channel. It's early for them so I am interested to see where it goes, dudes know their stuff.

Really good summary.

Jeff from Blabbin' occasionally talks often about his Keston Hiura collection (big Brewers guy), TPott's also spoken about his Tigers PC. Scottie B has done a few vids on forgotten (cheap) insert sets form the past, so the collecting side often comes out on their personal channels.

I am already subscribed to both of these podcasts though haven’t watched the YouTube versions, and these are the only two I’ve found as well.

I like Spitballin and Blabbin a lot. I make sure to watch all their vids. IMO they are a nice balance of investing/collecting.

Eliteco3, Rated Rookie, Little Victories, Tyler Short are some of the 'smaller' channels I really enjoy.

As for the really big channels ala Packman, CC2, SCI... I don't have anything against those guys but it does feel like the same recycled content over and over. "I Spent $50,000 (!!!!) at a card show in the middle of nowhere!!!" and you spend 20 minutes of them buying and selling the same old Flawless RPAs of mediocre WRs and Qbs. Gets old after a while.

I'll put mine out there! https://www.youtube.com/tanmanbaseballfan - fair warning, it is largely about custom cards I create, and whenever I add to my Canseco collection. It is in no way shape or form professional, or meant to appeal to the masses. Just a place for me to post my stuff!

I enjoy your channel. If anything, I'd like more content, especially the longer videos. I tend to skip over the 1-2 minute videos (I'm just an old man who can't get into the youtube shorts thing), but watch every one of your longer ones. Keep it up.

That's good to hear! I'm ALWAYS running on a time deficit, but hopefully I'll be able to create more. Heck, I have a horrible time keeping up with my podcast!

This is the best podcast I’ve found quite honestly by far and as mentioned most if not all have personal/other channels that are great as well. Neo cards and comics isn’t bad either but I check daily for spitballin videos because it’s that phenomenal, IMO of course.

Thanks for checking out the Spitballin’ Channel! Love talking about the hobby with those guys — even, or maybe especially when we get into it with each other! — and we really appreciate the support.

My friend Chris (@baseballcardaddict on IG) and I also do a weekly live show every Thursday night at 6 PT/9 ET on the Blabbin’ ‘Bout Slabbin’ YouTube channel, as a couple people mentioned. I invite you to check it out sometime if you haven’t yet. Great group of folks in the live chat, we learn something new every week!

The tech is a little archaic — after all we’re two non-tech savvy guys in their 40s with no sponsors and a show production budget of $0 — but hopefully we hit on topics that resonate with a lot of collectors.

On both channels, we talk all things cards, from high-end to low-end, new products, recent sales, junk wax, what drives prices and value, hot players and cards, our own collections and what everybody else is into, as well.

Hey folks, some of you know me. I’m a newer YouTube content creator who doesn’t push out news or gossip. If I post anything goofy (e.g. prospecting Sam Darnold on 2024), it goes into a short reel.

I stick to cards & stories about each shown.

Now that the kids are back in school, it’s far easier to create videos.

Upcoming videos will feature …

Building a 1967 Topps baseball set (same w/ 69-70 Topps Basketball, 86-87 Fleer Basketball, 1971 Topps baseball).
1968 Topps 3-D
1958 Hire’s Root Beer Test
Just the facts about 1984-85 Star basketball. No pumping & the truth about population.
Why SGC & PSA sold values are closer than people think with decent eye appeal cards. Using 2 years of data.
Why the 1987-88 Fleer Larry Bird card might be the most condition sensitive card of the 1980s.
The non-juiced 500 HR club.
How I budget each year for the hobby in-advanced.
Does Smoky Joe Wood belong in the HOF?
Player runs of Lionel Messi, Roberto Clemente, Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson, Wilt Chamberlain, Robin Roberts, Pete Reiser, Steve Jeltz, & others.
Various HOF set player runs.

My channel = https://youtube.com/@tj_is_online

The 1st appearance I made on YouTube w/ my backstory (on another channel)= https://youtu.be/sI8fTxKY8P0?si=b9aNm4frvfL2oGSG

Thanks

My pleasure! It’s a great show and regarding the blabbin about slabbin Ohtani video it was helpful to see the process of consolidation and some of the tips some might overlook (ie maintaining the same username across the different platforms). And on SB cards y’all have your own differing opinions which makes it fun and I never feel like you’re trying to sell me bs. Keep up the great content!

CC2 is a sleazeball. He was basically doing group PSA submissions for his customers but wasn’t actually submitting them himself. He was giving them to Marx Cards to submit in a cost cutting move. Again his customers weren’t aware their cards would be changing hands. But then Marx Cards disappeared with the cards or something along those lines.
