Default Topps Officially Announces Global Trading Card Deal featuring Disney Pixar & Marvel

Guess we can officially say RIP to Upper Deck marvel sets

Deal goes into effect 2025 Q1.

They just announced it on Instagram.

Makes sense why we are getting a Disney+ sticker dump set now

The deal we all knew was coming, but know we know when it comes in effect.

Expect endless Marvel epack sales til the end of the year. We know there's a ton of sets that still haven't hit epack. I wonder how many they've prepared for epack or if they'll have the time to get them up.

We already have the sticker dump Disney+ set coming
Honestly in the short term this will prob be phenomenal for the collector.
No doubt UD will be doing an MCU set that is a sticker dump too.
Prob will be some great deals on big name autos for a while

Question: if U.D. is sitting on sticker autos they intended to use for Marvel products (Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, etc.) but now they can't make official Marvel cards, do they "use them up" in a different way (like Leaf Pop Century) or just sit on them?

I could see them use them for something like Goodwin, although Goodwin I think has always been on card autos. They may have something in their deals on how they're allowed to use the stickers too.

They can just magically insert them into products they can’t sell like they did with Luka Doncic autos

So wonder if they do another quick Marvel Chrome set in Q1 that is available directly to US customers this time? Seems like the easiest set to put out since the EU set was already designed.

Wouldn’t surprise me, and they could add actual actor autos as well

Here is the press release I found at https://www.fanaticsinc.com/press-re...-collaboration

Today, Topps announced a major expansion of their existing overall deal with Disney Consumer Products to include global Disney, Pixar and Marvel trading card rights. New Marvel collectible trading cards will hit retail and hobby shops in Q1 2025 with Topps Finest X-Men ’97, the first time Topps has developed and distributed physical Marvel trading cards globally. Topps will continue their global Star Wars collaboration

Under this expanded deal, Disney Consumer Products and Topps will collaborate on physical and digital trading cards for Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars globally. Topps previously released Disney, Pixar and Marvel digital collectibles via the Disney Collect! and Marvel Collect! Apps. While this is an expansion globally, especially in the U.S., Topps has previously sold Disney, Marvel and Star Wars trading cards in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) through Topps.com and at local fan conventions.

“Topps has been a long-standing collaborator with Disney Consumer Products, driving physical and digital innovation in the trading card space,” said Paul Gitter, Executive Vice President, Global Brand Commercialization, Disney Consumer Products. “We’re thrilled to officially expand our relationship with Topps to bring storytelling from across our brands to card collecting enthusiasts around the world.

“At Topps, we have a relentless focus on enhancing the fan experience, and this new expansion and extension will help us continue to work with Disney Consumer Products to bring the best innovation in the hobby to collectors,” said David Leiner, President of Trading Cards at Fanatics Collectibles. Following up on their long-term collaboration, Leiner noted that Topps has made Star Wars cards since 1977, the most recent being the Star Wars Chrome by Topps release last month.

STAR WARS and related properties are trademarks and/or copyrights, in the United States and other countries, of Lucasfilm Ltd. and/or its affiliates. © & TM Lucasfilm Ltd.

Wow. Like others have mentioned the news that everyone knew was coming. Not sure how I feel about it. Those Marvel Topps Chrome superhero autos look dumb to me. Hopefully Topps will surprise me, but I have a feeling I’ll miss UD holding the license. Topps Marvel will go to the online breaker casino.

And I guess the digital part just means more Collect! Apps… however, now that they have the global physical license too I wonder if the Collect Apps could now become more like ePack where digital cards can be combined to make physical parallels and or physical card achievements?

It makes sense Topps, already did digital cards for all the disney ip's. Its easier for Dsiney to have all its ips under one roof.

I hope they do dsineypark cards. something ud never made.

I hope we get paper cards, Heritage type stock.

I think this is an underrated piece of this, Fanatics breakers will be pumping this stuff and prices will be silly to cater to breakers.

Get ready for breakers delight boxes for all upcoming Marvel sets with the best autos and sketches where we lowly collectors can’t pull them.

What Disney Parks relic card do you want? A piece of a Mickey Mouse costume? There's a store is Florida that specializes in selling props from the parks. Most of the stuff wouldn't work very well as a trading card relic though.

I guess they could Go the Goodwin route and cut up paper stuff like park maps, Disney dollars, park restaurant menus, etc. They could embed pressed pennies and pressed quarters into cards. Topps doesn't really have a history of doing those sort of relics like Upper Deck does though.

Pressed penny relic cards would probably be popular and would be super cheap to produce. Turn a penny into the box hit of a $300 box of trading cards.

I see news like this and wonder….did we see the last Marvel Masterpieces set made, what I primarily collect. I know there were some questions about trademarks etc, but I do strongly suspect there will not be another actually titled Marvel Masterpieces set anymore. Barring UD getting the license back in the future.

It’s been a good run.

Hoping what we see from Topps Marvel is not gonna be similar to the Marvel Chrome. I don’t have a lot of enthusiasm for this transition, but we’ll see.

Also this gives us a hard deadline for MM22 on epack at least. I mean UD will pump this out on ePack….right? Gotta be from now until year end apparently. No more continual putting that set off.

I remember someone saying that they would pretty much have to release a set every few weeks to be able to get them all launched on epack, is there a full list of the sets still not released?

I assume from the wording that they will not be able to sell on epack past the end of the year as they dont mention purchasing so there will definitely need to be some big sales to clear out all of the inventory I would assume.

I can see mickey and lion king going there.
