It's still a logistical nightmare. Not on the design and print side, but more on the actual signing side.

Yes they have scheduled signings, but is it easier to have them sit at that first signing and sign 10,000 stickers or schedule a signing based around the release of each product to have hard-signed cards for each player. And if you're trying to do this in season, good luck.

I’m sure.

And I’m talking from my bias because I hate sticker autos and prefer non auto chrome over a card with an ugly sticker.

But if you want to go all in on trying to have a full product with as many on card autos, I think this would be a good way to have it done well.

Your post didn't ask which was easier for the company to produce. You said that on card autos would mean delayed releases and packed with redemptions.

I pointed out why that used to be the case, but no longer is. Sure, fanatics would still have to want to do the work. But it isnt nearly as hard as it used to be.

Ever wonder why you had so many releases with only on card autos in the 90s. And very little redemptions? SP Signature Edition from Upper Deck had like 150 different players sign, and most all of them were live. We just got conditioned to think they way you are after awhile.

If Panini can get on card autos for their higher end releases. Without the weight of what Fanatics has (League ownership, player exclusives, owning the printer etc). It wouldn't take much more effort for Topps to do the same across the board. And just think of the premium they could charge, in doing so.

I'm all for it taking as long as it takes. And I'm sure this is the reason Bowman U Chrome '24 is getting pushed back, since they promised all on-card autos.

Yes, if something is easy to do one time for one release, why isn't it feasible to do it just as easily and timely across 80 releases? Come on Topps, just do the work!

Yes, on paper it SHOULD be a whole lot easier.

But on paper, FSU should be 2-0 not 0-2. Such is life.

I bought a case the year of Johnny football for like $450. Each box had 5 autos also. 60 autos per case or $8 per. Versus 10 years later and their $500 per auto.

This is the Topps Chrome thread. No one is saying they should do it across 80 releases. Even though its more like 50 releases. But again, for a 12 year run starting in the 90s all cards were signed on card. And combined, between all companies, you had 80 releases.

I just don't want to give them an out, since the hobby doesn't work the same way it did 10 years ago now. Chrome, 5 Star, Sterling, Transcendent , Sapphire, Dynasty etc should be on card. Players under their exclusive contract should be on card. Rookies from the Rookie Premiere should be on card.

If you want to have random signed inserts in sets, go ahead and sticker em. But if you are kicking out signed RC's or dealing with Legends sets, really no need to take short cuts. Again, not when you can charge more for the extra effort in producing them. Everyone here will tell you they'd pay more for an on card Chrome RC.

Now, there will be one company making licensed cards. No conflicts. And both the Union and the League have ownership in that company. No more design delays. Meaning cards can be made quicker, and available to be signed.

Back then, once the above was done. You had to find a printer and get in line to actually have your cards made. That would delay which sets you could print, to send off for on card signatures.

Now, Topps owns the printer! No delays, and they can print what they want when they want. To send out for those on card autos.

Back then these card companies had to cut deals with all the bigger players, and negotiate for autos. They would also send cards blindly to their agents/house, and ask to get them signed quickly and sent back to be packed out.

Now, they have exclusive deals with most all the top players. And have regularly scheduled signings with each, and direct access. They work how many of what gets signed, and exactly when, into contracts that go on for years.

https://www.fanaticsauthentic.com/x-714

When you are owned by the leagues, print your own cards and have everyone already signed to existing contracts for their signatures. You don't need to stock pile signed stickers. You control everything from soup to nuts.
Your nuts.

Topps composite & topps chrome is garbage. Unlicensed massed produced crap. Blows my mind what people are paying for this.

Did they promise ALL on card autos? If so, I missed it.

Does anyone know for sure if this will be the last Topps Chrome without logos. Google search tells me Topps NFL starts October 2025, but I couldn't find substantial evidence to convince me.

Fanatics/Topps is supposed to get the NBA license in October and the NFL license in spring 2026.

They better have Brock Bowers in this with autos. So far Topps have wasted their exclusivity with him. Barely anything of note released specifically for him (Topps Now).

Aren't they still hamstrung by the limit that they can only have something like 5 or 6 active players in a current set? Or did they manage to get around that?
