Still no Masterpieces, must be saving that for the end of the license.

Put the ones that will take some (a lot) time to sell up first so they have time to sell, or even be put on sale. MM and Premier will each sell out quickly, so no reason to rush them to ePack. Might as well let other products take in some money instead of having MM eat up all the available funds. MM will sell, even if they lose the license 12/31 and they post it on Christmas eve. Result is still a sell out, especially if people know it's their one and only chance. Ed

Upper Deck really did an awesome job with the medallions acetate achievement cards. I hadn't realized they were image variations on top of the acetate (not my cards). I'd love to get my hands on a couple characters.

Uhh…is it just me or can the back logos be seen on the front of the acetate parallels? Holy … if so. Don’t want to take away from anyone collecting acetate medallions but I’m not touching those with a 10 foot pole. Seemingly would be a serious QA issue.

Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be? There’s no solid design on the bottom of the front of the card to block the logos from being seen on the front like these acetate cards have. ![]()

Even in this image the back logos are hidden by the front bottom designs. In the scans on epack, you literally can see the reverse of the back logos. I collect a bunch of acetates and have never seen this before.

I feel like that’s the way it should be. Without something on the front to block the logos, they should be showing reverse when looking at it from the front? I could be totally missing something, but it looks correct to me? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm not understanding the issue with being able to see the back design on a clear card... there is no color to block it so it will show... heck even when there is color on the front you can still sometimes see the back through the color on the front... I know this isn't a hockey section but check the bottom gray part you can see print from the back through the gray

Maybe the sports guys are used to this, but I’m definitely not. Seeing anything on the back, through the front of the card is an eyesore (personally speaking). I was hyped to see UD making use of the medallions for buyers through these exclusives but I am not touching these acetates.

As one of the few guys who gold rainbow foiled up the complete FUA set, I have no doubts the acetate market prices will benefit from me not being in it ha

They sold FUA at Walmart. If FUA isn’t “entry level”, it’s just a notch above.

This is a lower premium than FUA but still not entry level. The fleer ultra brand, is on par with brands like metal. These brands are considered premium products by the brand managers themselves. Beginnings, annual, etc are more entry, this is not my words this is literally the UD brand managers for marvel cards that go on podcasts with the streamers/breakers. The point of my original post is I don’t like the back logos being seen on the front of the card. It looks cheap and lazy, and while it may exist in other lines it’s still looks cheap and lazy. To give an example of a premium character on an entry level set further supports my point, it looks like something that would be in an entry level set. It’s clear some people don’t mind it, I do. The insert looks cheap, and in my opinion they made what should’ve been premium into a very cheap product. Most marvel acetates don’t have this - you can see front on back but not back on front. There’s a reason why this type of FUMS acetate is more the exception than the rule. Knowing marvel has done this on another set was news to me, but it was news to me because I don’t collect entry level marvel products. You simply don’t see this on more premium brands. That stuff aside, people are paying $3-6 per base medallion for high tier characters. Ridiculous. There’s literally at least 29,834 epack boxes of this stuff, meaning there’s at least 3,580 copies of each base medallion, enough to acetate 358 times. Conservatively, let’s just say half get combined for 179 copies. This is nowhere nowhere near a rare insert. And yet people are currently paying what essentially is $30-60 for a higher tier character. Nuts. This has a much much larger epack run than FUA. I still maintain that physical will breach $110/box and my newest guess is that this will be discounted on epack by end of this year. If these aren’t 25% off on epack at some point, I will be absolutely astonished. |
