If anyone wants to follow along, I began sharing my props one a day on my IG!

I’m sorry I don’t remember how to post here.

Harry Potter Grail Mailday!

In 2006, Artbox produced 28 wand cards for each of the four Triwizard Champions. They took wands used in the movie by each, cut them into 28 pieces and made them into cards.

But they didn’t insert them into packs!

Instead, they were used by Artbox as massive incentives. Buy 25 cases and you would get one of the 4 cards.

25 CASES! That’s 250 boxes!

It’s the only Harry wand card in existence and it’s one of the most sought after cards in the series. Other than the Triple auto, it might be the best HP artbox card in existence.

Now, hopefully it makes sense why I have been selling a lot of stuff. I bought a massive collection of HP cards over the past few months. I do have to move a lot of it. But this one and many others are here to stay.

An incredible card and an incredible story. Someone needs to write a coffee table book about Artbox Harry Potter cards.

I’ve thought about it honestly.

Outside of nslists, what’s left of yakshack and this thread, there aren’t a lot of great resources.

@27guy- Incredible stuff. Another prop card I never knew existed and that’s about as unreal as it gets. Congrats on big pickup.

On the HP artbox market note, if I’m not mistaken a triple is showing a recent sold price of $25k from ebay. It is my absolute grail card and that price is *almost* getting down to the level of something sane….but still just out of grasp for me in terms of anything I’d put into one card. Congrats to the buyer on that, seems like a fair price considering that card.

Anybody been tracking the prices of the Harry, Hermione & Ron solo autograph cards?

Have they come down some since the pandemic spike?

I want to pick up one of each eventually.

It’s hard to get into specifics since individual autos vary widely from set to set, but in general, at this point you should be able to get solo’s of the big 3 for less than 10 grand total.

I’m vaguely estimating here, but Hermione around 4-6k, Harry around $2-4k, and Ron $600-1000.

They went up during the pandemic, and yes have fallen some since. But not nearly as much as things like marvel PMGs, some of which fell off a cliff. HP key autos have lots of organic value in a way those pmgs didn’t, and are pretty impervious to the drastic adjustments. I bought two Ron’s recently (posted in the pickup thread)- there are lots to choose from regarding any of the big 3. Including do you want them on a horizontal or vertical card.

For Ron there is always the Leaf auto as a fill-in (save some money), but artbox purists might have a big issue with that.

Great information! Thanks.

Count me as an artbox purist. The Leaf stuff is a nice low-cost option, but I only want the original, licensed cards.

I've got some sealed boxes. Maybe I should just rip those looking for some goodies. Ha!

No problem. Thinking about it more, in this current economy/collectibles environment, I would go with the lower side of each of those ranges, depending on the specific card. In other words, with a lot of effort (and searching out auctions, which is rare for HP key artbox autos, instead of buy it nows), you might just be able to get all the 3 solo autos for closer to $5-6k rather than 10k.

I’m the same way and it’s gotta be artbox. I want the official HP branded card. The good thing is Ron artbox is pretty attainable compared to the other 2 anyway.

Very jealous of having boxes to open, that sounds fun. I have never actually opened an HP artbox box, all of my collection is buying singles way after the fact. I might be reluctant with that since HP artbox sealed boxes are collectibles in their own right and fetch pretty high prices….and the chance of getting an auto, much less a key auto which are Ultra Rares etc has to be quite small.

I was only teasing about opening the boxes. They are a cherished part of my collection and will stay sealed.

I was fortunate enough to open several boxes of these as they were being released, but like a fool I sold off most of what I got.

I never pulled any of the big 3 autos, but I did pull some nice prop cards I wish I had back.

Very nice…pieces to cherish and keep sealed indeed.

I had a Sorcerer’s stone sealed box a couple years ago briefly, and dumbly sold it. Regretting that now a lot, being the first artbox HP set and kinda hard to find. Live and learn I guess.

One of these days I'll get around to posting pictures of the boxes.

I currently have 4, but am always looking to add more.

3. Cedric GoF Wand #/28
4. Fleur GoF Wand #/28
5. Krum GoF Wand #/28
6. Galleon SS #/40
7. Sickle SS #/40
8. Knut SS #/40
9. Sorcerers Stone SS #/265
10. Luna Glasses HBP #/110

Solid list….mine would be a little different. I get the big deal of Harry’s wand, but in general I’m not a huge wand person. There are some pieces I consider more important to the overall story than Fleur’s or Krum’s wand (or knuts or galleons for that matter)- like the sorcerer’s stone.

My list would not be in reference to value alone (since some have a lot made), but more just what I think are ‘cool pieces’. Not complete, but probably would be start with this-

Platform 9 3/4 ticket (might even be the top one for me)
Hogwarts acceptance letter
Harry’s Wand
Sorcerer’s stone
Maurader’s Map
Sirius’s letter
Basilisk Fang

There are some really crazy SDCC ones, like jumbo costume patches or 3D part of Krums outfit etc we’ve seen, some ultra low numbered. Those might be up there in terms of value, but I do like the ones that play a prominent role in the story, which would be more like the above ones. I have exactly one from my list above, and it’s only because they made a higher amount of it (Mauraders map).

I saw them at the booth during SDCC. Have no idea who bought them though.

Nice pickups! Both from my fav HP movie. Percy is on my list of main-ish characters I’m still looking to get.

If anyone’s been following the HP market, a few triples have surfaced recently. One a PSA 6 that just sold for around 40k on Goldin. Another raw that sold for 17k on eBay that seemed like a heckuva deal. Was seriously eyeing it as it’s my grail card, but out of my reach. I think what might have scared some bidders is the seller for some reason listed it in a different category than trading card singles- trading card supplies- and so it didn’t have eBay AG on the listing. Kinda gutsy to buy a raw card for 17k not going through authenticity, but looking at it, it seemed fine, nothing wrong that I could see, plus the seller just has all their cards in the wrong category for some reason. If there was a time to somehow land an HP triple..that was probably it. Sigh.

I have a question about this prop card (not my listing. Also, not sure if this is what you’re looking for to the person above me)

https://ebay.com/itm/326224088591

I understand it’s the Draco Dormiens start of the Hogwarts motto, but I can’t find this anywhere on the letter. They really zoom up on the letter on both sides in the film when Uncle Vernon is holding it and the motto is on the back under the Hogwarts logo but is encased in a ribbon and is not evenly written in a line, so is not what’s on this relic. So my question is- what am I looking at here?

Is it just one of many duplicates props which may or may not have been given screen time (the actual section of the letter not given any screen time as far as I know). I’m trying to understand these HP prop cards more- not questioning the actual card at all, I’m sure it’s a regular artbox HP relic card.

Another question as I’m trying to understand these more.

Helluva Ron Weasley costume card here #’d /6. Not my card and way outside my price range,

https://ebay.com/itm/204957905972

So it says the costume was from Goblet of Fire but clearly the pic is of Ron playing quidditch in HBP. But I guess that’s normal to use a stock photo…? My question is what costume would this be in Goblet, can anyone place it? Trying to think of where he’d be wearing a jersey/shirt with his own name on it, as he wasn’t playing quidditch or in the tasks etc in goblet. Also how big would a card like this be? Are these very large, because otherwise that “Weasley” wouldn’t be the size you’d think for the back of a jersey etc. Did artbox just get the name of the film wrong on the back?

Anyway, incredible card either way.

Nice catch.

I don't remember Ron wearing anything of the sort in GoF. I think Fred, George, and Ginny are all depicted wearing the Gryffindor uniform at some point, so it could be one of theirs, also not from GoF.

Yea can’t really place it, but maybe I’m forgetting something from goblet. Thought maybe in the quidditch World Cup scene all the weasleys are wearing Weasley jerseys or something, but no not the case. In the second task Harry is wearing a jersey with Potter on the back, but not Ron (Ron is in the task as one to rescue, he’s just wearing regular school robe). I don’t know of any scenes where’d he be wearing that. May have to go back and watch the film.

Edit: after going back through the film quickly including the extended cut, dont see it. The only possibility for onscreen time I’m seeing is his red shirt underneath a pullover in the library scene, but doubtful that’s it (why have Weasley on the back of something covered under a pullover and not seen). I think it’s more likely the movie title is incorrect.

I wish I could help, but I can't match that costume with a scene from the movie.

That's a great card, but LOL at the price.
