Which products have other people been collecting?

We are in the “overpriced wax era”.

Topps chrome breaker’s delight is priced like exquisite and national treasures.

When I think of "Junk Era" I think of over 3 million of each card produced. Now it's more so 3 million sets produced.

Right now wax is anything BUT junk. Just ask Fanatics after the Topps Museum release. It’s bricks of gold! It’s once you open it that it becomes mostly junk. We’re in the Junk Singles Era if anything. Most of those boxes back in the JWE didn’t have any kind of “hits” what so ever. Now there’s a tiny chance you might get a card with some desirability or monetary value.

They’d be there if the license wasn’t monopolized.

Haha. I remember opening 2007 exquisite football for $500 which was crazy at that time. NT was $250.

So, “one dude gets to kick 29 other dudes in the junk era?”

This.

What's crazy is watching influencers like cardcollector2, Geoff Wilson,
Rothcards, or others drop crazy sums on all these parallel cards. Trading
junk slabs for junk slabs and just watching this stuff go down in value
month after month with all the new issues coming out.

I wonder where this will take us. I also wonder how many people are getting
crushed. Cards HQ had a 2 1/2 wait of people looking to dump their recent
pickups. Hot potato....hot potato....

Yes, junk wax, but a topps black is still a topps black, a red ink is still a red ink, a topps chrome gold refractor is still a premium card, but the base cards are worthless, the refractors have lost a lot. Many of the releases should be completely ignored.

I think we are at the point where there were more Bobby Witt cards made last year than there were Nolan Ryan in any year during the junk wax era. There are enough collectors to absorb them right now though so I'm not a fan of the junk wax name really.

I think we are in a similar bubble as we were in the junk wax era.

The Lottery Ticket Era. I don’t see it ending, ever.

I confess I do like high print run “retail” / parallels, cuz they’re purdy - & cheap. Worthless? So what?

I don't know if will end, but it will adjust at some point. This isn't sustainable, Fanatics knows it, I'm assuming they are already strategizing what's next.

I once heard Jeter estimate he'd signed 12-15k cards through the years. I can go to any card show and find ten autos of guys like Trout, Soto, and Acuna for every Jeter auto I see.

Does a future hall of famer's(let's say elly de la cruz for argument's sake) base flagship rookie card hold any value you think in 20 years? If the answer is no, then, you are smack dab in the middle of a junk wax era.
