Just beware there was a lot of "funny business" with 2001 wax.

Between the issues between Ichiro and Topps and also the "update" sets that were produced to include Pujols, it's hard for a casual collector to know what 2001 wax to buy if you're hoping to snag a Pujols or Ichiro.

Just be sure to do some research before pulling the trigger and don't assume Pujols and/or Ichiro rookies are present, just because it's 2001

It's crazy how many 2001 SP Authentic and SPX boxes I see on eBay with Pujols in the title yet he's not in either product. Same with 2001 Fleer Focus,Futures,Triple Crown,Ultra and E-X.

Rookie Update is tricky. Pujols is in the base set of SP Authentic though.

I opened one a few weeks ago. Not bricked. The chromes especially have no issues with bricking.

Good to hear! I found a couple packs of 2001 Topps Series 2 at a shop a few years ago and snagged them for the nostalgia and shot at an Ichiro. Those were beyond bricked. Nice to know the traded set is doing better.

Have a look at ….
Leaf limited cases and also 2001 rookies and stars.

At the peak, these were both $500-600 boxes
Can be had for a fraction if looking in case form.

I think Leaf Limited is cheap because you can only pull napkin relics /250 of Ichiro and Pujols.

Besides Baseball Card Pedia which breaks down if cards are exchanges or redemptions, the annual Baseball Card Price Guide has lot of info on each set. It also tells you pretty much the same info in regards to expired exchanges and redemptions. But it’s a lot easier having it in hand when deciding what to buy if interested in older wax with expired trade ins.

Still ….… it’s still a nice looking ROOKIE card numbered to 250 copies and boxes can be had for under $250. I remember selling cases of this product for almost 10K some years back. I think still have a case or two somewhere at my place lol 🎱

Man there’s some nice stuff on this page. 2 Pujols pickups from the National. The Ultimate Collection has some surface scratches, but the price was right.
