Lived in WA for 20 years and absolutely love it but no way I could afford to live there.
Lived in the desert for 14 years (7 in CA and 7 in AZ) and it wasn't for me.
Lived in NE for 10 years and it's a good happy medium. All 4 seasons, things still affordable, and not enough people to have any craziness. The only drawbacks are no beach, No place to shop, bland people, and bland food.

I will move back to the beach eventually.

Not to hate on my former state…

But AZ doesn’t have a beach. If you want to shop at Fashion Square that’s your own fault. The cookie cutter people are the worst

Now they have legit food

So are you thinking CA? Or a EC beach?

Honestly curious

If I could trade back and keep her with me, I am all over that. She was apparently unhappier in CA than I am in NM....so there is no going back.

Who the heck is unhappy in a so cal beach town?
I grew up in Huntington Beach and it was absolutely fabulous. Now living in the bay area, its fine but stupidly expensive. You just have to stay in the suburbs away from the city centers.

I may inherit a house on the Beach in WA eventually. That would be my 1st choice as I couldn't afford to buy a house there outright (Small houses are a Mill). I don't want any part of CA..too many people and the power grid that costs as much as a house payment each month. Oregon Coast has some nice areas that are reasonable priced and have great weather year round. I'm not opposed to playing with Hurricanes in places like Galveston texas. Atleast the property value is dirt cheap but the insurance is super expensive.

EC I have never visited any beaches Below Maryland so I will need to check those out 1st. I do love New Hampshire/Rhode Island especially in the Fall when everything is orange and beautiful. We do plan on Going to Virgina Beach/NC and SC in the next year. I already know Florida is infested with Lufa antenna Lemon parties.

Winter can be brutal, but the fall oh the fall.

I need the seasons and that great big lake at our Northern border. We live on water and it sure is nice.

Green Bay 3 hours east
Cities 1.5' west
Madison 3 hours south
Lake Superior 2.5 hours north

Absolutely. Moved out of crappy Maryland in January and across the bridge to Virginia. I hate anytime I have to go back across the bridge.

Grew up in the San Gabriel Valley in the 70’s and 80’s, 9 miles from downtown LA, moved to City of Los Angeles and even downtown for a few years in the 2000’s, and to Torrance, a nice suburb of LA when I got engaged to my wife 11 years ago.

Growing up was borderline magical. Really a great place. Even as LA went down the tubes in the 80’s and as the gang activity spread in the 90’s, most crime was confined to specific neighborhoods. Then everything cleaned up in the early 2000’s with 2005 being the huge turning point. It was so cleaned up that I lived in Downtown LA for three years. Then since about 2012, things just turned to crap. The homelessness increase was very bad(homelessness has more than doubled in LA County since 2012). And low level crime(traffic infractions up to home robberies) is the worst I’ve ever seen.

Needless to say, despite living in one of the nicer suburbs of LA, it’s not particularly a great area to live in anymore. My brother moved from LA to Laguna Beach about a year ago. Even there, you can’t get away from it as an older visiting couple was attacked and the woman was murdered in the parking lot at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, a very upscale area.

I realize crime happens in all big cities, but seeing crime at a low level return to the 1990’s is just too much. Never before have I seen people steal stuff, employees witness it, and the person walks out anyway without the police even being called. Driving defensively is the only option…I seen red lights run 5-10 times a day. If you ever want to see the Wild West, go on YouTube and type in Figueroa St.

I have a few more years to retire, but man Los Angeles has become a crap hole. Wife and I would already be gone if we could.

After dealing with Hurricane Beryl, I do wish I lived more inland from the Gulf of Mexico.
