Maybe it shouldn't make the Top 100, but one hugely underrated movie that should definitely be in the Top 150 is "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon"

I'm also surprised the original 1933 King Kong and 1954 Godzilla didn't make the cut given that Creature From the Black Lagoon did.

I’ve seen 93 off that list, the 7 I haven’t were made in the last 10 years and I’d say it’s early to add them best ever status. There’s others I would 100% put above them.

Some of the older ones are dicey as well.

Not the greatest list.

It's on this list at #41 from Paste Magazine (Oct. 2023), as are some of the other movies I mentioned. There's a more international flair here, for sure, with many more non-U.S. made entries present. I would not do nearly as well naming directors of these (weren't those names posted with the title) and I definitely haven't seen a lot more than just 3 of these.

https://www.pastemagazine.com/movies...scariest-films

"We Need To Talk About Kevin" is on here, which I would imagine is particularly nightmarish for those who are parents of a very intelligent, but troubled teenager.

TIL that Anthony Perkins (Psycho) died from AIDS-related complications in the early 90s.

(I was a small child at the time, so I missed that story.)

Anyone seen In a Violent Nature, I saw the Yoga Instructor seen, very Gnarly. Curious on the rest of the movie. I will see it once I can find it somewhere to Stream.

His widow died at age 53 in the 9/11 attacks, Flight 11 that hit the North Tower.

i went into it being told it was the worst movie my cousin ever saw (who is a horror fan). i couldn't believe this and went it anticipating proving them wrong, but i got about 15 minutes in and turned it off.

Turned it off because it was a bad movie or too gory

I saw it in a local theater. It was... interesting. Someone described it as "Terrence Malick directing Friday the 13th" - which, I guess is a fair description but it's too gory for a Malick film and too slow for a F13. If you were raised on F13, The Burning, The Final Terror it is... interesting... as a concept. Not sure I need to revisit.

Whereas Terrifier 3? I will be there day one (Based off of seeing Terrifier 2 in the theater).

First one: bad.

2nd one: Reminded me of being a kid watching A Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time. Gleefully gory. Awesome.

3rd: Can't wait.

Saw "MaXXXine" today, the third in the trilogy that began with "X" and "Pearl"
Some pretty decent kills, but it's more of a thriller than it is a standard horror movie. It has wall-to-wall mid80's music and iconography for those who enjoy that. Mia Goth in the title role was terrific as usual, and it's always fun to see Kevin Bacon put in a couple of fake teeth and chew some scenery.

Ti West, who in addition to writing and directing this, also served as editor. He's a real talent, and hopefully he's got some more movies on the way.

Exhuma is really long.

I thought it was over when they burned the coffin.

Silly me.

I finally watched IT FOLLOWS.

Love the premise, a bit confused by the rule of the “it”, but solid.

I am the opposite, loved the first one. Thought the 2nd one was really weird in a bad way but I still appreciate that it stands out from the normal horror stuff we've been getting and I'll no doubt watch #3

That’s interesting. What was weird about it for you?

For me, the first one was gory but felt cheap and had no compelling characters. The 2nd felt like a fully realized film, with developed protagonists and the scene in the friends bedroom with Art is an all timer. Brutal.

It's said the next one has the intention of making the first two look tame by comparison.

Behind the Mask is one of my ultimate underrated movies. I think it absolutely deserves to be on the top 100, it's so unique and well done!
