Same, I had a /10 sapphire rookie debut listed for like 30 bucks listed FOREVER then some cheapo offered like 15 so I looked into it....relisted for 135 and sold for 90!

I know Julio is having a power outage...but I thought it was due to his swing decisions and lack of adjusting to the inside fastball. I keep on telling myself he is going to go on a tear soon...I am still waiting patiently.

Its like he randomly decided this year to expand his zone into both batter boxes. Swinging at fastballs way inside and sweepers/sliders way outside.

I miss the Julio who would strike out looking at bad calls but would force pitchers to throw strikes.

His outside swing % is actually down vs last year. His launch angle is also down for the 2nd year in a row. There's bad luck, but his power has completely vanished.

Man if you would've told me Heliot Ramos would have double the WAR of Julio near the end of June, I would've figured Julio got hurt in April and out for the year.

Basically halfway done this season and Julio still has an OPS under .700. Somehow his oWAR is 1.2 though.

What is the consensus...is it over for us Julio collectors? I guess it could be worse...I could have collected Corbin Carroll.

Julio is regrettably a sell for me right now and I’m by no means a Julio hater.

It’s frustrating because he is one of the few young guys that I think actually has true superstar potential, but his streakiness, inconsistency, and K rate gives me too much pause.

He may very well figure it out, but at that point I could probably buy back lower than today’s prices anyway. I’d rather take the proceeds of my one decent Julio and throw it at a decent Griffey, Judge, Ohtani, or Harper card right now. I’m a long term holder and take very few rolls of the dice these days on young guys without somewhat of a proven track record though so everyone has a different approach.

I’m still rooting for him though. We have seen what he’s capable of, and that’s the tantalizing part.

He’s 23 and uber talented. As a collector not concerned, as an Ms fan disappointed. That rotation is made to be a legitimate WS contender. A peak Julio with say a peak Vlad Jr is very dangerous.

Love LuBob’s talent too but the Ms don’t need someone else who Ks at a ridiculous rate.

As a long-term holder, do you really believe a 6’7” 280lb 32 year old with his own injury history is a better buy OR “roll of the dice” than Julio?
I have no argument that today Judge is incredible.

100 percent yes, no offense to Julio. Julio may actually end up being a great buy low off season guy because of his youth and potential, but not at current prices.

Julio hasn’t hit 62 homers. He needs to make his mark by stat accumulation. Judge’s peak is so good that he’s not forced to accumulate stats the same way to hold value. Judge will already always hold value, the only question will be how much. Julio needs to build some hype again with years chasing 40-40, which is still possible if he gets his power going again.

Judge is already a Yankees legend. Julio is a 23 year old whose production has declined each year he’s been in the league, and is in the midst of an absolutely atrocious campaign by hobby standards. It’s not clear how good he really is. A big gamble now.

I learned a valuable lesson back in 2020.
I had some very nice cards of a young star that was struggling after a stellar ROY campaign and sophomore season. His prices were down and people wondered if he was going to be able to recapture his magical first two years.
Reluctantly I sold. His name… Ronald Acuna Jr.

I regret that to this day. I kept guys like Vlad, Alonso and Bichette too long, but sold Acuna too soon.

Im keeping my Julio, in fact Im going to buy more. He’s too good of a player to stay like this.

Not saying Julio will have the type of offensive season Acuna had last year, and I may lose on betting Julio pulls through this, but with prices so low there is no reason not to buy and hope he does. If he does, great! Collectors will be happy, flippers will rejoice, and baseball will be better for it.
If he doesn’t, it won’t be the first time a young star faded. But I don’t believe he will.

One down year doesn’t define a career.
