Default Who is the best active MLB player you can't believe has card prices this low?

This thread is obviously going to show that alot of our hobby in the super modern realm is based on hype. But I'm interested in starting a collection of guys who are mega-stars who would have been much more appreciated back in the 80's and 90's when "real stars" were much more beloved than hype-beast 18 year olds.

I'll start. I'm no Guardians fan but Jose Ramirez is criminally undervalued. Patch autos #/5 from Topps Dynasty are selling for under $180. Guy never gets injured, and is a Top 100 player all time by WAR to the age-31 season.

I think he's a no-doubt HOFer, but would really solidify if the Guardians can do some playoff winning.

Machado compared to other top guys in the game.

Austin Riley arguably a top 5 at his position

Who is better Ramirez or Manny Machado? Both 31 and both have Topps Dynasty cards below $180.

I think Juan Soto prices are pretty baffling considering how great he is and relatively few RCs.

It's a good argument. I think both have been pretty equivalent to this point, but if you look at a fangraphs comparison, alot of Ramirez's stats are remaining stable, and some are even trending up, whereas Machado has been trending down pretty consistently--at least based on what I looked at.

He's not as expensive as he should be considering how rare his auto is.

For me it’s Paul Goldschmidt.
He’s on the doorstep of some key career numbers, closing in on 400 HR and 2000 career hits. He’s a career .290 hitter as well. Not sure if he can linger enough to make it to 500 HR but never know.

His Bowman Sterling rookie sticker auto just sold for $237.50 not including shipping/tax. Five Star rookie auto that’s /499 just sold for $357.00 not including shipping/tax. How much do you think they should be worth? And it looks like he’s signing again.

I agree with Ramirez and Devers.

I will add Corey Seager

Maybe this does not fit your criteria, but every current Phillies player is undervalued/underappreciated . . .

The last few years yes but he has a lot of autographs from when he was still on the Red Sox.

There’s a lot of them, but that’s the problem…that there’s a lot of them…

“If everyone was a superhero, no one would be”

So in essence, all of them are valued accurately

OP, I like how you put a specific example of both a player and the type of card that you think is under valued. It seems like it is possible a certain segment of the players cards could be under priced, over priced, or just right depending on the segment of cards. For instance BCA auto and RC autos could be over priced, and low and mid end RC cards could be under priced.

It would be nice for the responders to name the player and the type of cards they are referring to.
