Default Hoping to land 2 dealer badges/passes for the show

I got to experience this last year for the first time and it was so awesome. I got to sell early to a few vendors and have my graded stuff dropped off before it got crazy.

*** Edited after reading a few posts down... I'd be willing to put my name/face on the badges and leave a few cards in your showcase to comply with the terms of actually being a dealer....... Just looking for a way to play ball if possible

I understand this time around it's not going to be easy to find these but I want to try my hardest. I'd be willing to buy them just to use Tuesday/Wednesday then return them Wednesday night at 8...... or possibly work at table for a bit on top of paying for them. I'm open to whatever and willing to pay a lot for these.

If anyone thinks they can help me out I'll make it worth your while... thanks in advance for any help

Good luck. They REALLY cracked down this year. I’ve been able to get badges from someone since 2017 but not this year.

Yea I heard they cut the allocations by more than half..... so I understand the likelihood is minimal at best............ but here's to hoping

Doubt any dealer would risk getting kicked out for selling/sharing badges as all badges will have names on them and they are going to be checking name matches.

I don't see what difference this makes, you are not required to wear the badge on the show floor and even if they did there is not real way to police who is where.

If you are saying they are going to be checking IDs at the door that seems like an incredibly idiotic idea. People are coming in and out of the show over and over all day.

They wristband GA customers … so if you don’t have a badge on or a wristband you may be a target of floor security.

It may be worthwhile to see, if you know any dealers, if they can purchase other types of passes, maybe they even get a discount.

I know the VIP passes get you in an hour or two earlier than the regular crowd...
I wouldn't pay $150 for one, but maybe $75 depending on how many days I'm going...

I'd be willing to pay for the badges and give the booth 2-3 cards to put in their showcase.... as well as put my name on the badge to comply with show requirements...... Just looking to see if there is a way or if someone is willing to let me play ball.

I appreciate the info though..... it certainly seems like they want to police it...... kinds strange going from the wild west forever to suddenly checking names/photos/ID's

I mean, if the show is butthurt they are losing possible revenue the vendors are getting from these passes secondhand .... they should just charge 250 bucks for public passes that run Tuesday and end at 4 Wednesday............. and for anyone who thinks the show promoters care about anything other than revenue... and wants to push the collector's "ethics" card....... Atlantic City tells us all we need to know about what the committee really cares about, straight cash homie....... so just charge a huge amount and roll around in the extra cash people would pay to be on the floor Tuesday and Wednesday prior to 4pm.

I agree with you. I also do not believe they will be policing badges like a couple people on here seem to think. It is all just speculation at this point. I wish you luck getting a dealer badge, wish I could help you out.

I am sorry but why are treating this like a great thing. We already have a VIP section for people who can get early access. Now we want people to get in before those people so they can make some extra money, get some more #@#@#@#@ for their repacks and/or beat the line from the normal people from grading and other stuff. I mean at least he is willing to pay for this instead of influencer BS

It's not about revenue at all from my understanding. The revenue is there regardless because the show is sold out every year.

The issue is "priority" and how dealers have abused it up to this point. Say you have a dealer who is #7 in priority and has two quad booths. In order to maintain that spot in line, he has to continue obtaining those two booths each year. Well, two quad booths is a lot of square footage and maybe as time goes on the dealer doesn't need all that space. Up until this year, he could sub-lease to however many dealers he wanted. Guys like you could pay X dollars for some space, get a badge, and now you are part of his quad which allows him to keep priority.

Meanwhile there is a waiting list of dealers who are blocked from getting in because this other dealer has this space that he isn't really using but is still entitled to based on his priority, and he knows he can just sub-lease it out.

So what the committee is saying is if you don't actually need the space, or if you retire, or if you die, your booth should be vacated and made available to the waiting list as opposed to being passed down or sub-leased to other dealers of your choosing. So what they are checking for now is that the registered business for that booth is the only one in that booth. If "Blowout Cards" is the dealer, they want to see that the entire booth is Blowout cards and not 8 different card shops who are all leasing 10 feet of space from Blowout. That makes sense to me so I understand it.

Booths were being sold for $15 to $20k from what I heard last year
The booth I am working in got reduced from 6 to 4 so it looks like I won't be walking around as much as I anticipated
Grant it the better deals come to me at the booth

I know something happened at the booth selection last year in Chicago and it seems like the list for those who can't get tables seems to be growing

Last year's National had what I would consider THREE new sections opened that they hadn't had in the past.
(New dealers section in the far right, new dealers and breakers section, and new dealers and autos section.)

All of those tables have to go somewhere and if Cleveland doesn't have the space (which is the rumor) all those dealers in the new spots are gonna be SOL.

My understanding is that seniority rules when it comes to table space, so Last In First Out...

There was no day 3 lottery since the booths sold out well before any 0 priority dealers even had a chance to compete. Looking at the map of space reserved for Cleveland, it seems unexpectedly small.

Cleveland floor space is smaller than Chicago was in 2023. I have a Priority 1 and the dealer lottery ended at Priority 3. It was my understanding the Cleveland booth space is 15% ish smaller/less booths than in Chicago last year.

Not that I do not believe you, but 15% smaller seems LOW.

If you said that Cleveland was 15% smaller than the original Chicago layout prior to the expansion(s), I would have believed that...

I'm shocked they got to Priority 3...

EDIT: My bad, fat fingers on the typing.

Looks like approx 650 booths in Chicago in 2023.

Approx 620 in Cleveland 2024.

Only 5% smaller.

Not sure what it was before 2023?

the floor plan theyve showed seems to be quite a bit smaller than it was in 2018

it looks like where the ferris wheel USED to be is now the "back wall" of the show

One thing the floor plan shows that’s different from 2018 is that the VIP area is downstairs, and not in the ballroom. I didn’t even know the I-X Center had a downstairs.

Acortding to the “national press releases” after last year’s National. This years floor space will be the largest ever. Larger than last years.

Dealers had to turn in names for the badges when they submitted their paper work which was due June 7. And the allotment that they got and extras they could purchase was limited. 2-3 per booth, depending on size, and ability to purchase 1 extra at $150.

Rumor has it that dealers caught selling them could face immediate expulsion from the show.

Easy solution, move all the breakers to a backroom somewhere. That would open up more booth space.

There will be 75% less people walking around shopping on Tuesday and Wednesday up until the show starts.

And apparently the majority of those dealers at this side show at the Aviator are either dealers that got caught or people that would have benefited from dealers selling them.
