Got to meet LT at a local card show today. Surprisingly, the line was pretty short and there was minimal interest compared to what I expected. He finished all photos and autos in about 60 minutes. He chatted with everyone for a minute and was very kind overall. The autos were overpriced, but that's pretty expected at these events. The line was full of people getting jerseys, photos, rookie cards, and helmets, but I, of course, had to bring something stupid. He got a good laugh out of it and stated while laughing, "Damn! I really laid it on him!"

I was 100% thinking he had passed away when I saw the thread title.
Glad he's still kicking and that you had a great experience. |

That is awesome! Love the custom. Glad you had a good time and have a great unique card to show for it.

That’s cool!
I’m not an expert in paid signings. Why can’t a rookie card be signed? I was also fairly certain Bam Bam Bigelow was deceased but was shocked it’s been 17 years.

Thanks all! There was a separate ticket for rookie cards that costs more. He was signing those with a bold, large marker at least. I do a lot of old school wrestling collecting and actually have a Bam Bam auto as well. He's been deceased a long time, unfortunately. LT seemed to have no connection to wrestling at all except remembering it being fun. He chuckled quite a bit and you could tell it was all coming back to him. On another note, I ALMOST made a Waterboy custom instead. If it were cheaper, I would have done both.

As a wrestling fan, I never saw LT as someone who really enjoyed wrestling, he was just there for the paycheck.
I don't think his public image was all that great at the time and could've used any positive spin he could get his hands on. He was at a show about 45 minutes away a couple months ago, he wanted $100+ for Funko Pops if I recall and wanted more for "56" or "HOF"

I went to junior high school in Upstate New York in the mid 80's. Every year, the players from either the Giants or the Jets would come and play our teachers in basketball. Afterwards the players would stay forever and take pictures and sign autos. Just found a poster I had signed by LT, Simms, Joe Morris, Jim Burt, etc. I doubt they still do events like that these days.
