today is a week since grades popped and they are still sitting in the QA process. Thought they would have shipped by now. I feel like previous subs went through QA before grades popped but maybe I'm wrong as this is my first sub of 2024.

4/29 sports special of 72 cards in Assembly with a checkmark since yesterday. Grades should pop shortly.

5/17 sports special of 52 cards went from R&ID to Grading to Assembly within a few days. Mildly surprised since it contained a hodgepodge of 80s stuff including a few non-sport. Hoping they were kind to my 1985 Donruss dollar box finds.

What is a local PSA dealer, is that a group submitter? If so what is their turnaround time? Never used a group submitter I don't trust others to pack and ship and handle a 3rd party's card as they would if their own.

I believe so yes

I'm not sure as far as turnaround time goes, tbh this is my first time submitting anything to PSA so I kind of just wanted as smooth a process as possible but basically the process was I walked in with my cards (I had already put them in penny sleeves/card savers), spoke with the guy a bit, he filled out a form with all the different cards, I paid for the submission, then that was it

The other benefit for me was I kind of wanted to get another set of eyes on them and get somebody's take on how they might grade since I plan to sell some of them and PC others so I just wanted to make sure there was nothing glaringly wrong with them

One downside I did notice is that the submission for each regular card was $25 (the normal rate) and the auto+card was $40, but being that they are an authorized "dealer" I would've figured that maybe you get access to the bulk collector price on PSA's website but I guess no dice there

Hopefully the turnaround time is faster than it would've been submitting it myself, but we'll see

My May Special Order Arrived on May 29, 2024, and it already went to the Assembly, but the estimated completion date is August 12, 2024. Why do they tease me this early?

Both of my small 'May Special' orders that took nearly two weeks to be entered into the system after arrival came back to me from CA. So they actually weren't graded in NJ after all.
One of my orders got accurate grades, and the other order got "the good grader" where things were actually way over graded.

I had one card in particular in that order that I wasn't even going to send in since there were obvious flaws on the back. I thought it might get a PSA 8 at best, but if it got a PSA 6 I would understand. Well, it got a GEM MINT PSA 10. Wtf? I have a feeling the grader didn't even look at the back. This entire order was PSA 10s with only two 9s, for 80s and early 90s cards. Never had that happen.

I had orders in the past that had unexplained low grades that made me question things, but this was the first time that some of these cards were so egregiously over-graded that it too just confirmed my opinion that PSA is such a joke. But it's a game we all play, knowing it's heavily flawed/rigged. Some companies far more flawed than others.

Grading is just another form of gambling. It's our version of opening packs and submitting cards for grading, crossing our fingers and hoping we get the trip to Acapulco and not the zonk behind Door #3 in Let's Make a Deal.

I had a Feb. MLB special like that. The only "misses" I had on grade estimates were returned HIGHER than I had anticipated.
