Hopefully having this thread can deter or inform future collectors on one of the don'ts (or at least - buyer bewares).

Is there really that much difference between BGS 9.5 and a PSA 10?

Do you mean the difference in the condition of the cards or the value of the cards? Typically a BGS 9.5 (that doesn't have 9 for corners or edges, but you need to look at the card) is right on par with PSA 10's as far as card condition is concerned. |

Continues to boggle my mind that people are so comfortable paying more just for a different grading company without a significant difference in card quality itself. You're just not paying for condition at that point, just the case it comes in. Crazy. Even if you were after the $$$, you'd probably do better cracking and re-subbing BGS 9.5s than just buying the PSA 10s outright. |

Been there, done that. haha For whatever reason, people are reluctant to grade cards themselves. Maybe it's the bit of time until the card is back, adversity to risk (loss of cards in mail), or fear of not getting the grade they want. But in reality cracking and resubmitting or just outright crossing over can be a good option even as a possible profit source.
