Looking back at the 90s to early 2000s and the first decade of the Topps exclusive era (2009-2019), I feel 2018 was a good time for Ohtani to debut. A lot of options and product tiers, but still within reasonable taste without the stupid parallel paralysis of today. I would say maybe a year or two earlier would have left print runs a little more manageable.

That said, I also like the 2018 flagship design (a lot more than 2016-17) and the color parallels were possibly the best in the last decade (curtain style).

Still collecting!

Yup! Jeter finished 11 hits ahead of Miggy in 2012, and the last triple crown winner was Yaz (prior to Miggy), who led in hits + the triple crown stats.

People have been trying to place their own ideals and standards on Sho before he even arrived to MLB. If this type of garbage held any water, he would have never been the two-way player that won two decisive MVPs. A guy that doesn't want to do both wouldn't be rehabbing his arm in the middle of a MVP-caliber season.
