Box score looks a little better then he did in the game but still great to see him back. The double was a blooper to shallow left field that landed on the chalk and bounced into the seats. And the homer was a opposite field line drive that barely cleared the fence. He looked a little late on most of his swings but that's probably just a timing issue after missing games. But when guys off to a slow start just getting those could get the momentum heading in the right direction. As long as he's healthy that's all I care about

I was perusing his stats and, going into today, the only one that looked bad was his batting avg. His OBP and OPS were actually in good shape. He even had about an even number of walks to Ks which was interesting. Turns out his BABIP was about 100 points below his career norm.

I know he's had bad luck stretches like this that never seemed to fully correct, but he seems to be in a good spot for a correction.

PS. After today's game, his batting average is respectable again.

And Mattingly and Dale Long. I'm old enough that I remember when Mattingly did it. I'm not old enough to remember Dale Long and I had to look up who he is.
