The ebay vault fee structure was the best thing that has happened to card collectors purely for card collectors as ebay was footing the administrative bill out of their own pocket.

lol ebay is the bastion of doing good things for collectors and not an evil corporation focused on profits now?

they were going to raise prices one way or the other. Footing the bill was strictly a promotion to try and drive adoption and get assets into their ecosystem

Late to the party lol. Was on the glorious eBay vault ride since summer of last year, tragic news

That’s exactly right but it was one hell of a fcking promo. In a sense essentially getting “full comp” on everything sold because there was no fees and eBay is the most common “comp setter.”

I knew it wasn’t going to last that’s unreasonable for obvious reasons but the 3% promised was totally reasonable. It was going to be a “buyer’s” fee but we all know those effectively become seller’s fees as items just tend to go for x% less than otherwise. too good to be true in the end but I enjoyed the ride while it lasted

I had no clue that eBay vault was 0% sellers fee. Can’t believe I missed that, would have been a huge savings over the last couple years.

The ebay vault had 2 major failures

1. International buyers not being able to buy vault listings even if they had a US address

2. Not doing a good enough job marketing how incredible the 0% seller fees were

You shouldn't feel bad, over the last year I talked to plenty of sellers at local shows (many of which do tons of business on ebay) who had no idea the ebay vault even existed. Whenever I tried to explain to them that it had 0% seller fees most of them felt like there was some kind of catch and that it was way too good to be true. I get why ebay made this deal and I'm sure PSA made them an incredibly strong offer, but I really feel like within 3-5 years they would've absolutely crushed every other auction house/vault service out there if they had kept the fees at 3% like they had initially promised.

The "hobby" dramatically changed. Collectors were pushed out by resellers, gamblers and group breakers.

We all knew a suoer rich collector buying PSA was not good for the hobby. It's obvious he gets special treatment along with his associates "friends". What has PSA done for the hobby besides price all the lower collectors out of cards with upcharge after upcharge. The card hobby is a sick space to be in these days.

Buying raw cards that people don't want to collect and are over a year old is the way to go if you want to collect. I think collectors forgot that cards can exist in penny sleeves and top loaders. They are even more protected than most slabs.

I 100% agree. I collect raw cards mostly with the rare occasion of a graded card selling for the same as a raw card ex: graded 8 or 9. Nor do I buy into hype, just buy what's nice to me.

I agree, and it may have been this line of reasoning that lead to Collectors Universe selling goldin in exchange for the vault. Wouldn’t be surprised if eBay got an amazing deal doing that exchange. Who would sell on any other platform when faced with the largest platform offering 3% fees?

Is there a date as to when this will go into effect? I'm going to try to take advantage of the no seller fees while I can.

Deal is officially done and based on the wording in PSA's newest ebay vault breakdown email the PSA/Ebay vault seems like it will now be auction-only, no more fixed price listings. Absolutely gross.

You can’t be surprised. They want to move these cards.

Good for buyers that find steals as they can't be cancelled, horrible for sellers if for some reason auction doesn't meet expectations or has competition from similar cards.

Ok well now I'm confused, on the initial press release the only option PSA mentions for selling through the vault is the base 7-day auction. But, in ebay's press release they say the following: "Easy selling is on its way: Pick the card and name the price, and PSA will take care of the rest." That sure doesn't sound like how an auction would work, so maybe there will be fixed priced listing allowed?

Never trust a 3rd party that can hold you hostage.

I feel the same way with "The Cloud" data storage

The vaults were an easy "No Way!" ploy to lure suckers into the strip club's VIP room to get fleeced

If you don't possess the cards, you really don't own them.

It's different with stocks and money in the bank, which are insured and the norm.

I'd never trust eBay, PSA, nor Topps, Panini or anyone with my cards.

I did a withdraw of one item in my eBay vault to ship back to me (the fee waived thru June 2). Anyone else do this lately?.. How long was the wait to get shipped?

I'm guessing they're very backed up right now due to the transition and a bunch of people withdrawing/selling items at the last minute. I ran a bunch of vault auctions just to take advantage of the 0% fees one last time and I have multiple items that were paid for on May 26th that still haven't shipped yet, normally it was always next business day.

May 22: Withdrew
May 24: Shipped
May 28: Delivered

I'd expect it to be slower as more withdraws are likely to happen last-minute.

Thanks for the info on the shipping! Man, zero fees for selling sounded great. Wish I took more advantage of it while it lasted.

I will never forgive winning a Luka Contenders Optic Ticket Auto Gold /10 from the vault and trying everything I could possibly do to pay for it without success, because my eBay account wasn't a US one so I couldn't join the vault. Absolute worst
